In the name of fanfics, the author of this fic says that a timeskip has happened and Y/N has been successfully pulled out of her old school with minimal issues but of course...

Loid watched over the girls as they walked around the school supplies section. Anya was looking at all the coloring books while the teenager looked unsure of everything. Loid left her alone to her thoughts so she can process the major change that just happened in her life.

Loid pretended to look at the self help books when he really was just trying to keep an eye on the two girls- well, an eye on the quiet teenager and an ear on the little girl's happy noises as she fawned over the coloring books.

Loid trained his eyes on the pages of the book he was holding and pretended to not notice the teenager walk toward him.

"You need anything, darling?", He asked gently when she reached him, careful not to overwhelm her more. She looked embarassed about something and he noticed that a single pen sat in her shopping basket.

"Um...", she started, not looking at him. Loid was thankful that she dropped her sarcasm for today, but he was sure that she'd be back to her snarky self when she's already processed things.

"Go on, tell me", Loid said, putting the book back on the shelf to give her his full attention.

"Um... H-how much is our budget?", She asked, still not looking at him.

"What do you mean?", loid raised a brow.

"What do you mean 'what do you mean'? That was a simple question!"

The girl's guard came back up but Twilight sent her the Don't-talk-to-me-with-that-tone-because-I'm-your-father look that he practiced in the mirror after his shower this morning.

It seemed to have worked.

"Sorry- I just- well...", She looked at the single item in her shopping basket.

"It's okay, go on", Loid coaxed gently.

"Umm... I-"

"PAPA! IT'S A SPY WARS COLORING BOOK!", Anya cut Y/N off as she jumped and waved the flimsy booklet to grab Loid's attention.

"Don't yell in public, Anya", Loid chastised.

"Can we buy it?", Anya whispered. "Please please please please please can we buy it??!! Please!!", She still pleaded in a hush.

"You don't need that Anya. We don't have to spend on it"

Loid turned to the Y/N who was now bitterly looking at the booklet. Anya stared at her older sister as well.

"Oh... Uhm...", she looked at the coloring book in her hands and placed it on the shelf in front of them. She didn't take her palm off the booklet yet, trying to plead to her older sister with her big green eyes.

Y/N only shook her head.

I see... Loid thought.

Loid sighed, "That's not its correct place, Anya", the little girl made a little whine of disappointment as she swiped the booklet off the shelf. But as she turned to trudge around the aisles to put her item back,

"Put it in your sister's shopping basket", Loid said. Anya immediately whirled around and slam-dunked the coloring book in Y/N's basket, causing her to yell.

"YEEEEYY!!"

"OW! Anya! Father, she doesn't need this!"

"Shush!"

"Don't shush me!"

"Hah! Papa says we can buy it!"

"But you don't even need this!"
