Happy Pills and Teachers

Her stories are like happy pills,

Making my quivering heart still

And bringing on the type of smile

That reaches the eyes,

The type of laugh

That is not merely an act.

Though moments appear

When I shed many a tear,

With every scene of dolor

Is a scene that adds more color

To the whole story,

A tale of joy and misery,

Conveying the reality of this life,

Albeit filled with chaos and strife,

There is always a reason to be grateful,

Something that makes living wonderful.

This I have fully realized

Through formerly blind eyes,

By dint of her tales that I have perused;

Indeed, I have learned many truths.
