Author's Note: If you know me in real life (which you probably don't :)) then you would know that I'm obsessed with mermaids. This obsession started with the Little Mermaid movie, which kick-started my long term obsession. I know that I already posted a mermaid on shot, but I thought that I would post this one. Oh, and I also have another one on the way :)

One shots (Namjoon):

🎤 Every turn I take.

Every trail I track.

Every path I make, every road leads back.

To the place I know I cannot go, where I long to be.

See the line where the sky meets the sea?

It calls me.

And no one knows how far it goes.

If the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind me, one day I'll know.

If I go, there's just no telling how far I'll go. 🎤

Namjoon's been forbidden from touching ocean water as long as he could remember.

He lived on a beach house in San Diego, California with his parents, Seokjin and Marissa, who were well known around the area.

His father was a popular divorce lawyer, mainly towards celebrities and politicians, while his mother was a former Olympic volleyball player.

Meaning that he was used to going to the beach and playing in the sand with his parents- he just wasn't allowed to touch the water.

And he didn't know why.

He was walking along the beach that day, his bare feet hot against the sand, and he cursed the sun for baking the sand.

He knew that his feet would be cooler in the cold water, but he knew that he couldn't do it- not when his mothers voice ran through his head.

"Namjoon," she told three year old him one day, her tone of voice calm, trying to make her words easy to understand.

"Don't go anywhere near the water, okay? Can you promise your father and I?"

He just nodded at the time, before running off to play in the sand, disappointed that he couldn't make a sandcastle.

He remembered how his parents monitored him that day, making sure he stayed away from the water- which he did.

And they continued doing that every time they went to the beach as a family- keeping a close eye on him, making sure he followed orders.

He never questioned it- due to being so young- but now thirteen years later, he couldn't help but question it.

He couldn't help but feel confused.

His pale gray eyes looked at the water for a couple minutes, before looking behind him, towards his house.

His father was at the law firm that morning, while his mother was at the gym, training the local volleyball team.

Meaning that he was alone that day, which wasn't unusual, since his parents were always working- never getting home around dinner time.

He was used to being alone, but that didn't mean that he had to enjoy it- it always made him feel lonely.

He looked back towards the water, before holding a breath, knowing what he had to do.

He didn't know what he was expecting when his foot touched the water, but, to his surprise, nothing happened.
