It was hard to fit her into the car. Her wings kept getting in the way and I really didn't want to damage them any more than they probably already are from her fall. ❛︎Why am I even helping this winged woman? None of this makes sense anymore..❜︎ I thought as I had finally managed to fit her into the passenger seat with her wings in a position that I hoped was at least a little bit comforting for both her and her wings.
But as I stared at her for a bit longer, I realized the gash that was on her stomach. I didn't know how I didn't realize that before but it was there and it looked angry. Blood was leaking from it while some older blood was already there and beginning to dry up. ❝︎For fucks sake.❞︎ I groaned; my night was slowly beginning to not be for me.
And another thing I noticed was how much she didn't look like she belonged in my car.
The whole interior of the car was black, along with the outside of it and even the seats. Whilst she emitted a soft white glow and her wings were only the purest white I had ever seen. Everything about her was the complete opposite of everything about me. She was beautiful and pure, while I was dark and corrupted. Nothing about her belonged with the likes of me, or even the likes of any other human being.
And it was painfully obvious. But what confused me the most about the whole situation, was the fact that I was helping her and did not mind even the slightest. Any other day I wouldn't have given a damn about damaging her wings or holding her too roughy, or even her or her well-being.
I closed the door ━︎ careful not to close it too hard, so it doesn't make any loud noises ━︎ and went to the other side where the driver's seat is but something in the corner of my eyes caught my attention. I could see a foot coming from behind a dirty and quite full trash can.
Without thinking, I was already walking towards the thing. And as I walked closer, the worse the smell got. It got so bad at one point that the smell actual started to bother me. The trash can wasn't far so I didn't have to walk for that long. But when I did get to see what was behind it, I felt watched.
There sat a deceased body with a note attached to it. The body looked like it had just been killed, yet the person was very dirty and had a messy, unkept beard. So I assumed it was just a random homeless man. I leaned down and carefully picked up the bloody folded piece of paper on him to read it.
Do not take her with you. She is very dangerous, whether you or her knows it. Just leave her here and my people will get her back.
- Stranger, xoxo
The note was weird.. and what made it weirder was the fact that I knew someone who signed their notes off like that. I just couldn't figure out who at the time. But the fact that ❛︎stranger❜︎ was trying to tell me what to do━︎ also the fact that they were most likely watching me ━︎irritated me quite a bit. I crumbled up the paper and tossed it back onto the body where it previously was, knowing they are watching.
❝︎If you want her back so bad, why did you let her go in the first place? Obviously someone wasn't thinking.❞︎
I spoke loud enough for anyone around me to surely hear each word loud and clear. Although, I couldn't deny the fact that I felt eyes on me. And I knew where they were, but I couldn't let them know that. The sound of a trash can being knocked over caught my attention quickly, my head snapped to the direction of the sound and there was a homeless-looking man standing by the passenger side window.
He glanced at me for a mere second before looking back into the window with wide, blank eyes. His hands were shaking as they clutched an bag that was made of cloth. Everything about that man unnerved me. And the fact that he was so close to her was slowly beginning to agitate me more and more. But the way he was looking at her spoke for himself. A look of both fear and anger was clouding his dark eyes.
But finally, I was able to snap out of my state of surprise and do something about him. ❝︎Hey! Step the hell away from my car before you disturb her-❞︎ ❝︎Her? No this is an it.❞︎
He spoke without looking at me, and his voice was so monotonous━︎ yet shaky ━︎that it actually started to get on my nerves. ❝︎Sir, you will doom us all if you keep this thing around... it is too dangerous and you will be more affected by it than any of us if you fall victim to its sweet, sweet temptations..❞︎ Something about this man told me that he was indeed seeing about the unbelievable words that were falling like an waterfall out of his mouth.
That conversation, mixed with the note and a dead body, and then an supposed angel falling out of the sky were all things that were not supposed to be added into my night. But here we were. And something told me that I wouldn't have been able to run away from the winged woman even if I wanted to; which annoyed me, but also intrigued me all the more.
❝︎Listen man, I don't have time for this. I need to get home and treat this woman's wounds before she bleeds out all over my leather car seats.❞︎ I growled out. Putting much emphasis on the word leather so he could get the gist of it.
