( POV Thorin Stark )

I sat across from Robb in fathers solar Jon sat beside me. A letter sat on the desk in front of us and it's contents filled me with rage who do they think they are to attack my Father, to slaughter good men of Winterfell. It was an insult that couldn't be left unanswered.

"What are you going to do about this?" Jon finally broke the silence with a question directed at Robb.

"The only thing I can." He replied and I knew what he meant. Them he looked to me

"Brother go fetch the Maester" he said and I did as he commanded

When I returned inside with the Maester I saw Robb writing a letter and looked on the desk there where a few more piled up all stamped with the Direwolf of House Stark.

"My Lord you asked for me?" The Maester questioned

"Yes these letters they are to be sent to each Lord of the North." He comanded

"If I may ask what do these letters contain" the Maester asked in a curious voice

"the Lannisters have attacked my father and his household in the streets of Kings Landing and I mean to call the banners." Robb said and in that moment he sounded a lot like father

"I'll do it right away Lord Stark" he said

"How large a host can we raise." I asked my brother

"Fifty thousand with enough time and unlimited gold, though we can only arm and feed around thirty thousand at a time." He replied

"Unfortunately where low on both" Jon replied in a grave voice

"I'm going to pray send for me if you need me." I told them both.

( POV Thorin Stark )

I kneeled in front of the Heart tree as I had done for years before and asked for there blessing, I asked that they guide me and protect my family, my pack. I know the Old Gods ask for little but for my family I would give them the world.

"I will be marching to war soon." I spoke to the tree not truly expecting an answer

"War is different than killing a few Ironborn I've been told" I continued

"I ask that you keep my sword true and shield strong as you have all these years." I spoke again. I raised my Weirwood arm and put placed it on the Heart tree in front of me.

"Take me if you must but please spare my family." I asked in a whispered voice

"Why would we take your life when we where the ones that gave you it." Came a creaking voice from in front of me.

I looked up to see a sight i haven't seen since that day eight years ago, the eyes of the Heart tree glowed red and it's mouth was moving.

"You've spoke to me again. Why?" I asked filled with wonder at speaking to the Gods yet again

"Because you despair child of Stark, when there is no need to." It spoke, the trees voice full of wisdom

"The Old Gods are blind beyond the Neck but here in the North the Weirwoods see all" the tree continued to speak

"There are many secrets we learn of though we have never spoken them, but you Weirwood Wolf will be our champion." The tree spoke

"it has been written in the sands of time that you will go south and when your raven sours, your wolf runs free and you sound your horn the Heart trees will grow from the earth again and we will see." At some point it had began to snow though I didn't seem to realise as I was focused on the words the Old Gods where speaking
