“I-I don’t have money.” She stuttered slightly, her eyes wide.

“You don’t have money right now?” His hands raised to rub his chin, in ponder.

She nodded vigorously, trying to shake his tight grip on her hand to no avail. “Yes, yes, yes.”

“But this is my favorite suit.” Jeffrey put on a troubled face, his forehead wrinkled, and the handsome face slightly scrunched. The little panicky expression on Lucille’s face was a little cute, like a rabbit trying to protect its carrots.

“I-” As her brain spun to make an idea of how to compensate him, the soft tug on her hand propelled her into walking again. She was distracted the entire time that when she finally came back to reality again, she found that they were already seated in one of the private rooms.

“Sit down.” He pulled a chair and motioned to her, who then took a seat reluctantly. “You can think about it as you drink.”

Lucille blinked and sat down, her eyes involuntarily caught the menu on the table, and her pupils abruptly constricted. There was some strange urge to quickly apologize to this big devil. These things on the menu weren’t cheap. Suspicion still filled her heart about what kind of trick this man was concocting inside his head.

Was he going to make her lower her guard by speaking so softly, thinking that he was on drugs, acting like a lunatic, then make her owe a lot of money? Considering his usual nature, it didn’t seem impossible.

Countless thoughts raced in her mind, and she finally bit the bullet. “I can help you wash your suit.”

Jeffrey held his chin with his right hand, dismissing the waitress because he wanted to talk to Lucille longer. The little girl didn’t even realize it. Still the same money-obsessed person.

“Can you wash this kind of suit? Be careful, it is not easy to wash.” He kept on staring at her.

“I will try.” She resolutely said, and until a moment later she was taken aback at how quickly he compromised to her. He usually was a tyrannical person, she remembered. Tilting her head slightly, she asked him with a confused face. “Do you agree?”

“Am I such an unreasonable person?” Jeffrey was slightly helpless.

She subconsciously nodded. In horror at realizing what she just did, she corrected herself, “Don’t worry, none would dare to say you are an unreasonable person. I will also take the best care of your suit.”

“Alright.” With a flash of cunning in his eyes, he readily agreed with a good attitude, ignoring the nonsense in her first sentence.

“Now do you want to order something?”
She instinctively shrunk a bit to her seat, watching with jumping heartbeats at the sight of Jeffrey calling the waitress.

“I will pay.”

Jeffrey’s sudden words made her blush, with the embarrassment and shame that her thoughts were exposed.

“I-I just don’t want to drink anything anymore.” At first, she weakly defended herself, but her words were getting more resolute by the end of the sentence.

Of course, after so long time, how could Jeffrey not know of this girl’s nature of being a thrifty and money-loving person?

“I will compensate for your coffee.” He generously muttered, displaying a charming smile.

When the waitress came, Lucille was surprised at seeing the girl she had just met today, wondering why her luck was so bad. Is this waitress not supposed to be serving somewhere else?

As Jeffrey recited his order, the waitress quickly wrote down her notes. After she was done, she turned to Lucille and was stunned at seeing her again, inexplicably thinking that this girl was addicted to coffee.

“Miss, what do you want to order?” She tentatively asked.

Lucille turned to Jeffrey. He was the one who was going to pay. Let’s just see whether this man’s words were still credible or not. Their previous meetings always ended disastrously and she was wondering why he had such a big change in attitude. He wasn’t a gentle person. If anything, indifference and cold would be best to describe him.

“You can order anything.”

She nodded, intending to test the degree of sanity of this man. Although he was a scumbag, he didn’t seem like a liar. As she turned to the waitress, she began to recite her order. “Americano, caffe mocha, cappuccino, espresso,-”

The two other people were stunned as she listed a lot of coffee on the menu with ease, and in a blink of an eye, she already ordered four kinds. The waitress was more convinced that this girl was getting addicted to coffee, just looking at the pair of vague panda eyes.

“Miss, it is not healthy to drink too much coffee. You just drank six cups of coffee earlier.”

Jeffrey’s expression slightly darkened, looking speechlessly at this girl who was pretending to put on an innocent expression as she blurted out. “Really?”

“Give her a cup of water.” Jeffrey said to the waitress, under the disbelieving eyes of Lucille that seemed to say “you lied to me”.

“It’s not healthy to drink too much coffee.” He told her.

Lucille narrowed her eyes, then sighed. She really wanted to taste the coffee once again, even knowing that she was getting addicted.

“Do you want to go to the hospital later?”

Jeffrey was visibly stunned at such a question. “Why?”

“I think that you seemed to have some problems…” She gazed at his face, making sure that her words were careful, yet, his seemingly still-existent intelligence immediately caught what she was trying to say.

She felt like she was stepping on a landmine again.

“Why? Do you think that I have a problem in the head?” The tone was as soft as a breeze, inevitably bringing some coldness into her heart.
