▪️Texting Drummer boy▪️

You: Hey, drummer boy, I really enjoyed grabbing that coffee with you. We must do it again! If you so desire, I probably enjoyed it too much

Drummer boy: Girl, there is no way you could've enjoyed that more than me! I love coffee and I love talking to and about things I like ;)

You: Since when did you become such a flirt?

Drummer boy: Since I saw you at my house on my drums

You: Speaking of which, how are the drums now?

Drummer boy: better than ever, thanks Valerie. Want to go out for coffee again tomorrow?

You: wow, so soon! I thought I'd have scared you away.

Drummer boy: I'm not afraid; I'm very brave and strong.

You: Strong? You'll have to show me some of that muscle, Mr. Knight in Shining Armor. I'd love to hang out tomorrow.

Drummer boy: I'd be down to show you my muscles anytime ;)

You: oh shush, you flirt; see you soon

▪️end of chat with drummer boy▪️

I sighed, throwing my phone to the side. He was a bundle of joy. a literal cinnamon roll. And my stupid ass was beginning to have odd feelings for said cinnamon roll.

▪️

A month later

▪️

"God, I'm surprised I can still buy my necessities! We've been going for coffee nearly every day, and it's darn expensive!" I laughed, smiling at Vinny as he sat in the chair opposite me, sliding me my coffee and change.

I tried to ignore the warm feeling of butterflies that erupted in me, he just always looks wonderful, with that beautiful grin of his.

I watched as he grinned at me and said, "Well, it's worth it, right? You get to see this beautiful specimen every day," he chuckled.

"Pft, you wish! I'm here to feed my growing coffee addiction," I snarkily replied.

"I'm so offended!" He cried out with his hand on his heart, making me laugh.

I sipped on my coffee as he looked around the shop,
"How was band practice last night? What band do you play for again?"

"It went pretty well, actually. We started doing some recording for a new song, so it's going well. Eh it doesn't matter; we aren't that big." He told me, sipping innocently on his own coffee. "How about you? How's work?"

"Stessful as always. My boss has ghosted us all again, leaving me to the stack of paperwork he gets on the daily" I groan, massaging my temple

"Ugh, your boss sounds like a bit of a douche. But hey, it's easy money!" He says happily. "I hope you don't mind, I just need to run to my car real quick. I'll be back in a second."

While sipping on my coffee, my phone pinged. I didn't want to look at it, considering I was with Vinny, but when I saw the name, I just had to see.

▪️Nathaniel has sent you 4 messages▪️

Nathaniel: Hey, I'm outside.

Nathaniel: Where the fuck are you?

Nathaniel: Val, come open the fucking door; I know you aren't working. I need some money to go out.

Nathaniel: oh you better watch yourself when I see you next

You: leave me alone, Nathan. I can't afford to give you money anymore.

Nathaniel: You are going to regret saying that.

▪️end of chat with Nathaniel▪️

I drag my hands over my face, groaning.

Vinny's angelic voice interrupted my thoughts as he sat back down with a bag in his hands.

"Hey, is something wrong?" He asked, looking me over with a concerned look on his face.

"No, nothing's wrong. Everything okay with you?"

"Don't lie, Valerie. Something is bothering you. I can tell through your body language, and that shine in your eyes is gone when you look at me," Vinny replied, and I blushed slightly.

So he's noticed the look I give him.

A sad laugh left my lips, and he looked at me in a worried way.

"You got me! It's just that I'm having some problems in my personal life, and they're really bothering me at the moment. But hey, that stuff means nothing to me right now, and that's because I'm with you," I replied, smiling at him.

"Im flattered. Well, whatever it is, just know I'm here for you. And Ricky is here, if you need him. We both care about you. Just swing by and we can help you out when needed!" Vinny stammered out, his cheeks flushed.

A tint of red painted my cheeks. "Thank you, Vinny."

"Anytime, Valerie. Anytime at all"

He grabbed my hand from underneath the table, and as cliche as it sounds, my hand fit perfectly in his. He sent a soft smile at me.

"Why is your hand so cold?" He laughed
"Good question; at least I have the coffee to keep them warm," I replied.

"You also have my hands to keep them warm! I'm always boiling, so use me as a source of heat anytime," he told me, and he gripped my hand harder.

He is so beautiful. I wish I could jus-
I mentally slapped myself. We broke away and continued to sip on our beverages.

Stop this, Val! You are still with Nathan, whatever that relationship is. You cannot fall for this wonderful guy, that you are already hopelessly falling for.

"Take a walk with me." Standing up from his chair, he said. He held out his hand, and a smile graced his lips.

"Sure," I said, taking his hand in mine. "What's in the bag?" I asked, curiously.

"You know curiosity killed the cat. And I don't want you to die." He chuckled, but stopped anyways and pulled out some really nice drum sticks.

"I remember you groaning about how horrible your current ones were, and I put your favourite colour on them aswell. And you can come over whenever you want to play on my drums," he said, impressed by his work.

I was in awe.

"Thank you, Vinny, you don't know how much this means to me!" I told him and pulled him into a hug.

His arms closed on my back, and he held me really tightly. I almost didn't want to let go.

I tried to get out of his grip. "Just a few more minutes," he said, muffled by my hair.

His hands fell to my hips as he pulled me closer, the heat of his body making my own shiver, before pulling away.

He smirked at me before winking, "enjoying my body against yours, hmm?"

"Oh, come on, Vinny! You just ruined the moment," I giggled.

"Oh, we were having a moment? What does that mean?" He teased.

"Oh, it doesn't matter; you ruined it," I jokingly replied, pretending my heart was broken.

"Such a shame!" He said in a sing-song voice, and he laughed and skipped ahead of me.

I wish I could trap that sound in a jar and keep it forever.

"You have a nice laugh, Vinny." I told him, and he turned to me; he turned on his heel, and in the kindest way ever, he spoke so gently,

"You have a gorgeous smile, Valerie."
