Chapter Twenty-Four

Start from the beginning

"You worry too much. Everything will be just fine. The snow is melting so that is a wonderful sign. Hot weather is just around the corner."

"Trust me, I have noticed. I am more excited about the weather change than writing."

We both laughed and I stood up straight, finally getting my shoes on. "We must be going. We should be home before sunset."

He smiled and nodded. "Enjoy your time. I cant wait to hear about it afterwards."

"Oh you will. I love you father." I leaned in and placed a small kiss on his cheek. "Let's go guys!"

They all jumped off of the couch and followed me out into he chilly weather. We were dressed slightly warmer so we were fine. I helped Ashton and Annemarie into the carriage after a Lincoln jumped in before getting in myself. "Ready!" I yelled at the driver as he made one swift move and the carriage began its way into town.

"Is she nice? Does she have a lot of money? Will she be living with us?" Ashton began asking question after question.

"Ashton, honey, save them questions for her. She will gladly answer any questions you have."

He nodded. "I sure hope so. I have many of them. I tried to write them down but it looked bad. My hand writing isn't the best."

"It will get better in time. I am glad you've been practicing."

"Only because Lincoln reminded me. He told me you were stressing about our schooling."

I glared at Lincoln as he smiled at his book. "Well, he certainly isn't wrong. Mommy has been through some stress but I know it will be okay. I have you all with me, plus Alex."

"Does he really need to attend?" Lincoln asked.

I looked at him. "Yes he does. He gets his chance to a good education too. He plans on being an artist."

"Like aunt Amy?"

I nodded. "Just like aunt Amy. They both are really talented."

"Why isn't she going then?" Lincoln asked.

"She is only a young girl. She will get her chance just like Alex did."

"I like her paintings more." Ashton said.

I looked at Annemarie as she nodded. "You agree with Ashton?" She nodded again. I smiled and gave her a little wink, making her smile a bit.

Once we arrived at our destination, I helped the two smaller kids out while Lincoln held onto his books for dear life. The ice was melting but we all could slip and fall right here in front of everyone. I held onto Ashton and Annemarie's hand while Lincoln walked in front of us. "Take a left!" I yelled and he nodded and turned the corner to the left. We all stopped in front of her small office. I looked through the window to see if I could see her then she had came out of the back and waved at me through the window.

I waved back and she opened the door. Her eyes looked at the three kids that stood in front of me. Annemarie hid behind me a bit while the boys looked up at her with a smile. Lincoln's smile could light up a whole room. I knew he was excited and had been waiting for this moment since I had told him. She moved to the side and let us all pile in before closing the door. "It is a bit messy but it shall do."

I let go of Ashton and Annemarie's hand. Ashton went beside Lincoln as they watched Mary's every move. Annemarie still hid behind me.

"What is back there?" Ashton asked as he pointed at the back room.

Mary smiled. "That is where I make my book covers. It takes a lot of patience."

"You make your own book covers?" Lincoln asked.
