The rookie didn't look happy when I stepped into the game between him and Sally. Speaking of the rookie, what's his name? Not only did the rookie look angry but also shocked. He never saw a creature like me before. What was I? A monster? "What ar-"
"A human and don't flirt with Sally."
He looked shocked once more, not expecting that I knew her but truth is told, everyone knows her. This is a small town after all. I stepped out of the game since Sally looked thankful at me and drove up towards Doc, who was still up high thanks to the forklifts. In the corner of my eye, I noticed that the rookie and Mater were talking. I felt like they were gonna be best friends so I smiled slightly. Maybe Mater can change him along with Sally?
"Doc, you look great. You do something different with your side view mirrors?" Sally asked, trying to bring up a friendly conversation.
Doc rolled his eyes, clearly not impressed with her trying attempts. He knew she wanted something. "What do you want, Sally?"
Sally sighed. "Come on, make this guy fix the road. The town needs this."
"No. I know his type. Racecar. That's the last thing this town needs." Doc wasn't confessed.
Sally didn't want to do this but she had to. She needed to confess to the doctor, judge, and mayor to make the rookie fox the road. "OK, I didn't want to have to do this, Doc, but you leave me no choice." She looked at me, asking me also for permission since I am Doc's lover. I quietly nodded and mouthed to her to go ahead. Sally looked thankful and turned to face everyone. "Fellow citizens, you're all aware of our town's proud history," Sally began.
Doc knew where this was gonna lead to so he listened.
"Radiator Springs, the glorious jewel strung on the necklace of Route 66, the mother road! It is our job and our pleasure to take care of the travelers on our stretch of that road."
Sarge quickly interrupted. "Travelers? What Travelers?"
"Ignore him," Fillmore rolled his eyes.
"But how, I ask you, are we to take care of those travelers if there is no road for them to drive on?" Sally faced Luigi. "Luigi, what do you have at your store?"
"Tires," he remarked.
"And if no one can get to you?"
"I won't sell any... tires. I will lose everything!"
Sally turned to Flo. "Flo, what do you have at your store?"
"I have gas. Lotsa gas!"
Mater and Ramone couldn't help but laugh. I became confused. What was so funny? I guess it was funny to them but Sally was actually making a good point of view to see. What if the road wasn't fixed?
Sally quickly remarked at the boys to stay with her since she was still not finished and kept going. "And, Flo, what'll happen if no one can come to your station to buy gas?"
What Flo said next broke my heart. Not only me but also Doc's. She said: "I'll go outta business and... we'll have to leave town."
Sally turned to others. "What's gonna happen if Flo leaves town and closes her station?"
I looked at the rookie and just watched him. It was funny since he didn't know what was going on right now. What was Sally doing? What was she doing? What was she saying? Oh, he's going to lose. Just as the rookie wanted to look my way, everyone cheered and agreed with what Sally was saying. The rookie was responsible for damaging the town and he needed to fix this. Doc honked for everyone to be quiet. "Seems like my mind has been changed for me."
"Yeah!
"No!"
