Nicole Summers:
"Guys, can we rest up a bit? I'm having trouble sustaining this." I point to the floating man behind me. The more I try maintaining my concentration in making this man levitate, the more it drains my energy. "What was his name again? Randall?
They stop walking and face me. The three of us have been walking around this endless forest for a while now but we still haven't found a road or anything that is familiar to us. I'm not sure what to think anymore. I could not communicate with my wolf yet again and even though Valerie and Sandy drank that healing elixir, they still were unable to communicate through the pack link.
Once more, we are all in very bad shape, we haven't showered in days and we all look like we've been struck by lightning with how dirty our clothes were.
"Yep. His name is as annoying as his personality," Valerie grumbles while placing the suitcase down. As much as the suitcase annoys her, it has elixirs and potions that are usable.
I accidentally lose my concentration and drop the man to the ground. "Oops. Sorry, Randall."
Sandy and Valerie snicker at my apology. Valerie opens the suitcase and grabs another vial of wolfsbane. She takes out a syringe and starts filling it up with the liquid. Once she finishes, she places the needle cover and closes the suitcase. "This should be enough to keep him weak and unconscious."
I furrow my eyebrows at her statement. "Are you sure that's safe? Didn't you inject him with an entire vial before we left?"
"Better be safe than sorry. He is our kidnapper. Just think of it as a booster shot you get when we were kids," Valerie replies as she injected the man.
"Should we start a fire?" Sandy asks.
"Won't that be dangerous? What if it starts a forest fire?" Valerie returns.
A gust of wind suddenly blows past us. The three of us stop in our tracks and hold our breaths. The faint sound of running footsteps thud on the ground. It starts getting louder and the closer they get to where we are.
"I've sensed it since earlier. We've entered a pack's territory," Sandy voices out.
A few seconds later, ten wolves have already surrounded. They are led by a huge wolf who made its pack look small in comparison. Its fur was the deepest shade of brown and the aura emanating from his body is enough to tell me how powerful he was. Bright blue hues surround his frame.
The brown wolf approaches Sandy, burying his nuzzle in her neck and taking in her scent. Sandy stands frozen in place, her eyes glued to the wolf's. At that moment, her aura seems to glow as bright as the wolf's. This means she's experiencing happiness, right?
"Mate," Sandy whispers, but Valerie and I can hear her clearly. Her face turns red when she realizes the state we were in.
I grin sheepishly. I didn't expect Sandy to find her mate all so suddenly.
The wolf quickly runs towards a nearby tree. We hear a sound of bones cracking — indicating the wolf is shifting back into their human form. A few seconds later, a man in black boxer shorts emerges from the tree. His hair is as gold as the sun during the day. His skin is tanned and, despite the dark environment, his toned muscles and six pack are in full display.
I look away in respect. I'm sure Leandre probably looks hotter. Not that I've seen him without a shirt on. Realizing my thoughts, heat creeps up to my cheeks and I try to hide it with an awkward smile.
The man embraces Sandy in his arms and growls, "MINE."
Valerie and I stand awkwardly behind Sandy. We do not want to ruin her precious moment with her mate. In my peripheral vision, another wolf starts making its way to a tree behind us. It is hard not to notice his presence since he almost had the same aura as Sandy's mate but his wolf is smaller than Sandy's mate.
