chapter 2
( roomies )
"wednesday and thursday, what unique names. i'm guessing one of them may be the day you were born?"
"we were born on friday the 13th."
the addams family, minus pugsley, were currently sitting in the office to nevermore. the principal, principle weems, looked thrilled to have two new students.
however, thursday and wednesday didn't share that excitement with her. thursday had yet to say a word, he only looked at the woman in hope of making her uncomfortable and at some points, he could see her move her body so it was more towards wednesday.
"her name comes from a line from my favourite nursery rhyme, 'wednesday's child is full of woe.'." their mother spoke with a grin as weems nodded her head before turning it to thursday.
"you always had a unique perspective on the world, morticia. what about you, thursday?" the boy only looked at her, he had no emotion on his face as silence filled the room.
gomze coughed awkwardly, probably noticing the discomfort which began to make its way on weems face.
"thursday's my favourite day of the week." gomez's laugh boomed in the room as he patted his son on the shoulder.
"did your mother tell you we were roommates back in the day?" weems quickly changed the topic, possibly due to the ongoing glare that thursday was still giving.
"and you graduated with your sanity intact?" wednesday questioned, her voice going slightly higher pitch than usual but still holding its monotone tone.
"impressive." thursday piped up for the first time since they arrived, all eyes landed on him for a second but weems began talking once again.
"lovely to hear you talk, thursday. perhaps you are willing to talk more to your peers?"
"perhaps you would like a fork in your eye?"
morticia and gomez quickly laughed, simply so the room wouldn't be covered in silence. "he's not usually like this." gomez laughed, intentionally giving the boy a harsh slap on his shoulder.
"right, well you've certainly had a very educational journey." weems told the two twins who sent a small glance to each other before turning back to face her.
"eight schools in five years."
"they haven't built one strong enough to hold us." wednesday informed the older lady, her brow simply raising as if wednesday was challenging her.
"i bet this place isn't going to be very different. what do you say, wednesday?" thursday turned to his sister who turned to look at him.
"i say we'll be out of this place faster than our parents would hope."
"what our children are trying to say is that they greatly appreciate the opportunity." gomez butted in, not wanting weems to suddenly rethink and kick them out.
"nevermore doesn't usually accept students mid-term, but given wednesday and thursdays perfect grades and your family's long history with the school, i've spoken with the board and we've made an exception."
"larissa, what about wednesday and thursdays, um...therapy sessions?" morticia curiously asked, thursdays head instantly snapping to his mother at the question.
"the court ordered them. the school has a relationship with a therapist in jericho, she can meet twice a week."
"did you hear that, my little storm cloud and crow? you're in excellent hands." gomez beamed with joy as he looked between his two children.
"we'll see if she survives the first session." wednesday spoke blankly, thursday nodding his head in agreement.
"her hands won't be so excellent if i cut them off." thursday turned to his father, only for him to send him a big grin which he certainly did not enjoy.
"i've assigned you to your mother's old dorm and you to your father's. ophelia hall." weems informed the twins who looked at each other only now finding out they weren't even sharing a room.
"so we aren't in the same dorm?" thursday asked the woman, ignoring his mother's excited gasp as she found out their dorms.
"i'm afraid not, thursday."
"refresh my memory. ophelia's the one who kills herself after being driven mad by her family, correct?" wednesday asked their mother, morticias grin growing even wider as she nodded.
"should we go meet your new roommates?" weems asked excitedly but the twins unfortunately for her didn't share the excitement with her.
thursday and the rest of his family along with weems and wednesday's new roommate stood outside his new dorm. they had just visited wednesdays and were introduced to her new roommate, enid.
enid was definitely the complete opposite of wednesday. the room was filled with colour as her side was very vibrant and colourful along with her hair which had been dyed at the bottom.
thursday just hoped that his roommate was nothing like that.
weems opened the door for him, his room was set out the same as wednesday's as a giant circle window covered the back wall.
his roomates side was everything he hoped it wasn't. colourful.
every inch was covered by some kind of vibrant neon colour which was enough to make thursday wish he was blind. he was nearly convinced he was going blind looking at the colours.
"kit!" enid yelled, running into the room and hugging a boy which thursday didn't see as he entered the room.
the two shared a hug as the others walked into the room, thursday looked back at his father with an unamused face and he knew what his son was thinking.
"kit and enid are siblings, both very colourful." weems nodded at the twins who internally groaned, not wanting to wake up to colour every morning.
"hi! you're thursday right?" the boy smiled excitedly, he looked the opposite of what thursday did.
he had warm blonde hair and blue eyes and he didn't have dark eye bags underneath his eyes unlike thursday did. he was different, thursday didn't like it.
"i think i'm going blind. oh, wait. it's just you." thursday spoke to the boy, his eyes feeling sore from looking at all the colours.
"i take it you're not a fan of colours?" the 'kit' boy asked, although it was a dumb question. of course, he wasn't.
"what gave it away?" thursday spoke with his signature monotone voice as he looked at the boy unimpressed.
"is he always like this?" the boy whispered at morticia and gomez who looked at their sound with smiles.
"he's usually more threatening and scary, if you will. he's just angry that we put him here." gomez told the younger boy who now looked more scared than ever.
"i'm not angry. i just really want to take a knife and pull it along your neck until blood seeps out."
"right..." weems trailed off, not wanting the conversation to go any further so she changed the subject.
"kit, enid. why don't you take thursday and wednesday to collect their new uniforms and schedules, give them a tour perhaps?" she smiled at the two cheery siblings but kit only shook his head.
"actually, i was just about to go." he told the older woman, slowly making his way out of the room as enid turned to them with a grin.
"it's okay! i can do it."
enid didn't give them any chance to respond as she cheerfully skipped out of the room, the two dull twins slowly following behind.
