Sick

Yuna dropped onto the couch, covered by her soft onesie and a fluffy blanket. She was just glad the day was over. A sick wave had burst into her classroom and she had spent half the day cleaning puke, calling parents to pick up their child only to return to another kid throwing up.

She had gotten home and hit the shower, basking in the hot water pouring down on her. But instead of making her feel refreshed, she felt hazy and tired. Her stomach was protesting against something, cramping up a bit from time to time. She crawled up on the couch, closing her eyes for just a moment.

...

A loud ring shook her from her sleep. Yuna felt warm and her stomach was doing summersaults. For a moment she did not know where she was, but then she recognized her living room.

"YUNA!"  The muffled sound of Cole's voice reached her and it was followed by a loud banging on the door. Yuna slowly got up and walked to the door supporting herself against the wall and holding onto her stomach. It was protesting heavily against her movement.

She opened the door, looking at a very worried Cole. Yuna swayed and Cole had her in his arms within moments. "Yuna, are you alright?" He asked. Yuna nodded, trying to get her feet under her again. "I think I'm sick Cole. You should not be here." She said, pushing him away, and making her way back to the couch.
"Don't be ridiculous. What is wrong?" Cole protested as he put the blanket over her.
"I think I got the stomach flu that hit my classroom today," Yuna said as she closed her eyes trying to calm her stomach down. "Can you get a bucket?" She asked, feeling absolutely horrible.
Cole returned quickly with the bucket she used for cleaning. As soon as she got hold of it, her stomach rolled and her stomach content got thrown out of her. Yuna felt completely miserable. When her stomach stopped getting empty, her face was sweaty. Yet she felt so cold and the taste in her mouth was horrible.
"Here," Cole said as he whipped her face with a damp face towel. "Do you think there is more, or can I empty the bucket?" He asked.
Yuna looked at Cole. She could see the worry in his eyes. "You don't have to do that Cole." She said before he handed her a glass of water. She swooshed a sip around in her mouth before spitting it in the bucket to get the taste out. As soon as she took another sip, Cole took the glass from her. "Don't be ridiculous, it's not like you can do it. Now can I take it away safely?"

Yuna lay down and nodded, closing her eyes as she heard Cole walk away. She wished she could hide from him. How did it end up with her boyfriend cleaning up her puke? They were far away from that stage in their relationship. When Cole returned, he placed the bucket close to her and went back to the kitchen to wash his hands. He returned quickly, bringing a cup of tea for her. "Here I got you some healing tea. It will make you feel better."

Yuna looked at him and carefully grabbed the cup. The water had cooled and she was able to drink a few sips. "Not too much, it will upset your stomach," Cole said as he took it away.
Yuna lay back down and looked at her boyfriend. "You should go home." She said, trying to hide away. "I don't want you to get sick." But Cole snickered, wiping a strand of hair out of her face. "Would you go home if it was me alone?" He asked warmly.
Yuna thought about that. No, she would stay. She would not leave him alone. "Yes." She said, one last try to get him to go home. Cole laughed. "Liar." He said. "Now try to get some sleep. I got you covered."

Yuna sighed and closed her eyes. The sound of Cole moving around in her house had her calmed down. She could hear him talk softly, probably on the phone with someone.

Hot...

Yuna tried to push the blanket away. "Come on love, calm down." She heard him talk. His voice relaxed her a bit. But then something cold touched her face. Yuna inhaled deeply and her eyes flew open.
Cole was sitting beside her.
Why was she so hot? Yuna tried to fight off whatever was covering her, but there was no power in her arms. "Cole." She whined, looking at him for help. She shook her head, trying to get the cold away from her.

"Babe, you are burning up," Cole said as his hand moved to her forehead again. The cold was back, and even though it was nice. It needed to go.

She looked at Cole, who was calling her name. Yuna wanted to keep his face still.

It moved around too much. Too much for her to look at him. "Cole?" She managed to get out, "Why is your face moving?"

Cole looked even more worried. "Come on, you need to drink something Yuna. Just a sip." He tried. Yuna did not want to drink and turned her head away. She let out a soft moan. Her stomach hurt, she was so hot, but she was also cold.

Cole tried to turn her head back, but she pulled away.

"Yuna please.." If her head had been any clearer, she would have heard the desperation in his voice. But with her very high fever, she was unable to register it. Her hands waved around, trying to fight something.
Cole closed his eyes and swallowed. "Alright... That's it." Cole said as he tapped into his earpiece. "Guys, Cole here. Can... can someone come over to help? Yuna's temperature is too hight, she is halucinating. I... I don't know what to do."

"Cole? You do know it is the middle of the night?" Pixal replied, her voice calming him down a bit. "I know, please Pix," he replied as he saw Yuna close her eyes again as she sank back into her fitful sleep.

"I will wake Master Wu. Zane is still up, would you... like him to join you?" Pixal asked, sounding a bit worried. Cole sighed in relief. "Yes, thanks Pixal." The thought of his calm brother by his side eased some of his nerves.

"They will be there soon. Don't worry Cole, I am sure Yuna will be alright." Pixal replied.

Cole broke the communication, feeling his heart racing. He hated it when someone was sick. It reminded him of his mother. The way she would lay in bed looking pale as her sheets. He knew Yuna probably just had stomach flu, but it was hard to fight the reaction of his body embedded in it since he was a kid.

When he heard a knock on the door, Cole almost sprinted to the front door. "What took you guys so long!" Cole said frantically. Zane blinked at him in surprise. "We came as soon as we could, did Yuna's state deteriorate?"

Cole shook his head walking to Yuna's room. "She fell asleep again, but she keeps pulling the blankets off her. She is running a high fever. She did drink a sip of healing tea this evening and she kept it in for now. She.."

"Cole..." Master Wu placed a hand on his arm. "I will look at her, can you make us some tea? And calm yourself please, you got this Cole."
Cole closed his eyes trying to calm his turmoil inside. He inhaled deeply calming himself down a bit. He could do this.
Sensei Wu took off to Yuna's bedroom as Zane guided Cole toward the kitchen. "Let me assist you with the tea. We don't want Yuna's kitchen on fire."
Cole nodded, looking frantic, missing the chuckle in his brothers voice. When he did not react, Zane looked at him curiously. "You are worried." It wasn't a question.
Zane filled the kettle and put it on the stove. Cole sat down on the kitchen chair. "I know. I know it's just a cold. But..." Cole rubbed his face and looked at his brother preparing the tea. It was calming seeing the ninja of Ice preparing tea. Zane stayed quiet, letting Cole put his thoughts in order.
"I just worry." Cole managed to get out. Zane turned towards him, waiting for the water to boil. "That is understandable Cole. It is alright to worry about someone you love." Zane said calmly. The master of Ice placed his hand on Cole's shoulder. Cole blushed. "Is it that obvious?" He asked, looking up from underneath his bushy brows. "You called us at 2 at night, Cole." Zane scolded him, raising his eyebrow. It took Cole a moment before realizing what Zane meant.

"I mean about being in love." Cole said softly, looking away. He had been in love for a long time now. It scared him how much he loved Yuna sometimes. It was why they were moving slowly, he was afraid if he dove in head first, Yuna would run.

"Cole... Even I see you are in love with her. And that says a lot." Zane chuckled as the kettle started to whistle. He took it off the fire and poured it into the small teapot.

The two ninjas moved to the living room, and Zane put Cole on the couch as he took the tea to Sensei Wu. Cole turned on the TV. There was nothing on TV but commercials, so they ended up watching someone talk about an amazing cleaning cloth.

Cole perked up when sensei Wu exited Yuna's bedroom after an hour. "Her fever broke, she will be feeling a lot better in the morning. But she needs some healing tea in the morning and drink plenty of fluids." Cole let out a hissing breath as he relaxed his shoulders.

"Perhaps you could call Tess in the morning, to help you," Zane said, looking at his brother who looked exhausted.

Cole shook his head. "I will take care of her," he said stubbornly. But Wu shook his head. "No Cole, you are too emotional to do this alone. Call Tess, she will help."

Zane nodded. "You could also call Charlotte, I am sure she can lend a hand. I will stay with you tonight." Cole waved his hand. "I am fine." He said. Master Wu straightened his back. "Zane, can you collect my teabags from the kitchen please?" He said kindly. Zane nodded and got up without saying a word. Master Wu stepped closer to his student and sat down next to him. "Cole... there is no shame in needing help." He said softly. Cole swallowed hard and looked at his hands. He could feel a lump forming in his throat. "I know this has been hard for you, Cole. Let us be there for you." Master Wu squeezed his knee. "Yes, Master Wu," Cole said softly.

"Now, get some rest, Zane can wake you if Yuna needs you." Cole swallowed again and pushed the unfallen tear from his cheeks, trying to hide it. But Wu spotted it and moved closer. "Oh, my sweet boy." Master Wu said softly, pulling the grown man into his arms. Cole could no longer hold back his tears and cried letting the tension leave his body. He did not cry long, but long enough for him to get a major headache after. Master Wu pulled him away so he could see his face. "We talk about this when you get home." He said, making eye contact. Cole swallowed. Master Wu was right, as always. He knew he had grown mentally in the last couple of years, but this had been something tucked away deep inside of him. He let out a sigh. "Thank you, Master Wu." Wu smiled and pinched his hand. "Well, let's see if Pixal is here to pick me up. I am an old man and I need my beauty sleep."

This little joke had Cole smile again. Zane was standing in the doorway to the kitchen. He held a cup of tea, placing it in front of Cole without a word. "Pixal is here Master, Shall I walk you down?"

When Zane got back in the apartment, Cole had fallen asleep on the couch.
