4546B Day 3, Log 3:

  "I...y!"

"In...ky!" The Octoling groaned, their vision fading in. Was the world always this blurry?

"Hey! Wake up!" Robin called out as the Octoling groaned, slowly shaking their head.

"Transfer complete." The voice stated. The Octoling groaned again, sitting up with Robin's help.

"How do you feel?" The voice asked the Octoling. It was strange, but the voice seemed... different. It didn't echo. It almost didn't even sound... spoken. It felt almost like the Octoling's inner monologue.

"Why do you sound... inside my head?" The Octoling asked.

"Huh?" Robin asked, looking as the Octoling held a hand to their temple.

"The facility identified hospitable capacity within your cerebral cortex." The voice responded.

"Cerebral cortex...?" The Octoling repeated, confused.

"Cerebral cortex... that thing is inside your head!?" Robin asked, shocked.

"W-What!? I offered you the PDA! Why did you-!?" The Octoling stood up, using the parts of the terminal to balance themself as the subs nearby began to spin.

"Oh no. Does your kind perceive a boundary between cybernetic and organic components?" The voice asked.

"I-I don't know about humans, but I do!" The Octoling shouted, hands to their temple. Breaths started to come rapidly as the Octoling leaned forward, trying to keep steady. The cube slowed to a stop, dimming with the rest of the lights in the facility.

"You sound distressed. We will allow you a moment to process." The voice told the Octoling.

"No! Nonono! What's going on!?" The Octoling shouted. They only received silence in response.

Around the Octoling and Robin, the facility finally gave in, the lights flashing off to flood the place with darkness.

"H-Hello...?" The Octoling called to the voice again.

"Hey!" Robin grabbed the Octoling's shoulders, looking them in the eyes.

"I don't know who you are, but you get out of Inky's head NOW, you hear me!?" Robin demanded. The Octoling shrugged, unsure.

"It's... not speaking." The Octoling told her. Robin sighed, steadying the Octoling.

"Fine. We'll figure something out when we can. Here..." She passed the Octoling their PDA, dusting off her companion. In front of them, the cube the Architect had once resided in fell into pieces, clattering against the ground.

"Let's get back to the base. Maybe whoever this is will speak up when we're in a safer spot."

Across the snow-covered grounds of Alterna's Site 1, your foot hit something, sending a small shape sliding across the ground.
