"Do you dare to look him right in the eyes?"

Amara sat in the newly renovated ancestors house, Adrian at her side as they both practice spells. It took the Ancestors time to warm up to the Mikaelson but thankfully for Amara, they eventually did. Adrian's eyes were shut as he murmured in Latin, sparks of electricity running up and down his body.

"Amara, I fear my descendant is falling father in the doppelganger's clutches." Emily appeared in a faint translucent state, her voice full of worry. "Can you perhaps help my descendant."

Adrian opened one eye, his gaze assessing the dead witch. Amara sighed, biting her lip as she thought.

"It's difficult Emily, if Bonnie finds out then I'm sure Elena will. And I'm not ready for that to happen yet. Even though what is to come is a delicate situation that requires a large amount of finesse, perhaps I can find a way. I will ask something of you Emily, as well as the ancestors in return." A small smirk flashed across Adrian's face as he closed his eyes again, knowing Amara could handle this just fine. Emily looked at Amara with a hopeful look, nodding softly for the Elemental to continue. "Esther Mikaelson, you cut her off from her magic."

"It shall be done."

"Excellent."

Amara walked through the hospital, her hand tightly clutching Adrian's as she ignored the dark glare coming from Elena. Stefan stood at the doppelganger's side, his eyes softening as he looked upon the Elemental. Damon just watched with curiosity, not knowing much about the small brunette. The vampire's eyes stopped on Adrian, the eldest Salvatore having to bite back a snarl.

"Is she awake?" Amara's voice was soft, an insult rising in Elena's throat.

"Yes, not that it's-"

"Elena." Stefan's cold tone sharply cut through Elena's, his eyes narrowing as he looked at her. Adrian smirked, mentally praising the ripper. "Cut it out."

Stefan's tone and gaze softened as he turned to Amara, Damon's eyebrow raising in surprise at the complete change in his brother.

"She's awake and waiting for you 'Mara."

The Elemental and her bonded walk into Caroline's hospital room, laughing quietly at the outraged squawks coming from Elena. They close the door behind them, a warm smile coming over both Adrian and Amara when they see a beaming Caroline.

"Finally!! I'm so glad you're both here." Caroline kisses Amara gently, the blonde starting to glow from her happiness. Adrian stands to the side, a small frown on his face. Amara settles on the side of Caroline's bed, cuddling the blonde with a look of content. "Adrian why are you frowning at me?"

Adrian rolled his eyes at the pout on Caroline's face and sits on the edge of her hospital bed, looking at her with a small fond look. Not that he'd admit it if you asked him.

"Why were you in the car with Tyler? And how did he crash? You and Enzo deactivated the device so that shouldn't have affected him." Adrian looked at the blonde with curious eyes, murmuring a spell so the vampires outside couldn't hear them.

"He offered to give me a lift to Bonnie's house but on the way, he suddenly just drove us into a tree." Caroline bit her lip, her hand gently intertwining with Amara's. "I think he might have been compelled."

"Can untriggered werewolves be compelled?" Amara asked Adrian, reaching over and taking his hand. She knew he was not that keen on the wolves with what happened to him when he was young.

"Yes, they can. They only get that immunity once they have triggered their curse." Adrian's looked out the window, trying not to think of the night he died. Amara squeezed his hand gently, Caroline looking at the Warlock with sympathy. "It was probably Katerina. If you had died Caroline, she would've gotten bonus points for not only triggering Tyler's curse but also killing you. "

"Meaning, she'll most likely come here at some point to turn me into a vampire." Caroline realised, her eyes widening.

"Precisely sólskin." Adrian's voice was soft, his eyes warm as he looked at his two favourite girls. Caroline's nose scrunched up a little at the unknown word, Amara's eyes warming with love as she notices.

"She can do it. From what you've told me Amara, becoming a vampire is something that can benefit us all. I'll just ask her to snap my neck instead of suffocate me." The blonde's nose wrinkled, a small giggle leaving Amara at the facial expression.

A knock interrupts the trio, a smiling Stefan poking his head around the door.

"Bonnie is here."

Caroline's eyes lit up and Stefan opened the door further, the Bennet witch coming in with a small smile.

"Bonnie!"

"Hey Care." Amara moved off the bed, giving the two friends room to hug. Though she did not go far, due to the insistent squeeze of the hand from Caroline. Adrian looks at Amara, give a small tilt of the head towards Bonnie, frowning in confusion when he gets a shake of the head from his bonded.

"We'll leave you both to it."

A knock sounds on the Salvatore Boarding House, a curious Stefan opening the door a moment later.

"Elena. I heard what happened, about the relapse. How was Caroline?" The vampire didn't want to particularly see the brunette on his doorstep but unfortunately, he couldn't put up a fence around the house to keep her out.

"Not good." The doppelganger steps in and hugs Stefan tightly, not noticing how the vampire stiffens. "Just what I needed."

"Elena, we talked about this, we're no longer-"

Stefan is interrupted by the brunette trying to kiss him. Quickly realizing that it was in fact Katherine and not Elena, he grabs her by the back of her neck and bares his fangs at her. He then throws her on the couch, but Katherine gets up without missing a beat, seemingly unruffled.

"Katherine."

"I thought you and Damon were infatuated with my doppelganger. Yet it seems neither of you like her." Katherine's tone was full of amusement and some curiosity, Stefan's eyebrows raising in surprise.

"Just leave Katherine, I don't have the patience for this. And I have somewhere to be." More confusion formed on Katherine's face, as she watched the Salvatore grab his jacket. Was he not even going to ask why she was there? "Let yourself out."

With those words, Stefan walks out the front door, leaving a shocked Katherine standing in his living room.

"Elena? Where are you?" Bonnie walked into a hospital room, wondering who she just met that had Elena's face.

"Bonnie, I know I'm late. I'm getting in the car now. I'll be there in five." The witch is shocked as she puts away her phone. She turns around, gasping when she sees Katherine.

"We haven't officially met. I'm Katherine."

"I know who you are." A look of determination came into the Bennet's eyes, her magic readying inside of her.

"Of course, you do. You're the best friend, right? I've been putting all the pieces of Elena's life together. Isobel told me it was a bit of a puzzle. It seems I can't find some of the pieces, such as a small brunette who has Stefan and a warlock wrapped around her little finger. I do know who Jenna and Jeremy are though and I met that delicious ex-boyfriend Matt, who's sweet on Caroline, but she is blissfully unaware. Then there's you, the judgemental little Bennett witch. Did I do good?" Katherine smirks, her face filling with glee at the fear she feels coming from Bonnie in front of her.

The witch tries to leave the room, but Katherine super speeds around her and blocks her way out. Despite Bonnie using her migraine inducing spell on Katherine, the vampire speeds forward and wraps her hand around the Bennet's neck.

"I've been around a long time Bonnie; you're going to have to do better than that."

"So have I Katerina." Adrian speeds into the room, electricity cackling in the air as he throws Katherine off Bonnie. "You're going to have to do better than that."

Katherine looks up at Adrian with a look of well concealed shock. There was a sense of familiarity coming from the Warlock, an instinct of fear rising inside of her. She watches as he whisks Bonnie away, only one word in her mind.

"Katerina."
