Kamila was sitting in her closet on the floor while folding her clothes. She finally decided to go back to her parent's house. Being the only daughter out of three boys wasn't a big deal to her. But she also wanted a little baby sis.
It has been six months since Bilal's death. Almost everything was back to normal.
She had to be strong for herself.
Twice. She was admitted in the hospital twice because of how stressed out she has been. Also not eating food regularly added to her sickness.
After folding her last A shaped gown and placing it in her box she went to her jewelry drawer and opened it.
She cleared it out but noticed the surface in the drawer was a bit loose. It was like there was something beneath it that was making it to come up a little.
She grabbed one of her flat hair pins and boom it opened. It was another layer of drawer. And inside of it a navy blue rectangle box was kept together with...a card? She carried it and sat down back on the floor.
She first of all opened the card and read what was written.
Kamila,
Mils,My chances of living in this world has come to an end. I would want to give you this gift on your special day but I might not even make it to the end of this month not to talk of even your birthday which is in the next ten months.
I want you to know that you hold a special place in my heart. You were, are and still is my first and final true love. I can't imagine living you behind in this world but unfortunately I have to go.
Pray for me. Don't shed a tear when I'm gone. It was bound to happen.
You have your family. You have mine. Take care of Mami and Dad for me okay.
I love you so much Mils. Always and Forever.
With love,
Bilal ♡!And just like that, her water works began. She cried her heart out in her closet and even fell asleep.
Hafsat, Bilal's immediate younger sister also known as Taqeeya was staying with her for the time being. She had been by the door knocking for over ten minutes but no one answered so she just went in. The light in the closet were the only ones turned on so she assumed her namesake would be in there.
And just as she guessed she saw kamila sleeping with dried tears on her cheek. Not wanting to make any sound, she tip toed to her place and just when she was about to wake her up she noticed the card laying on the floor close to her hand. She picked it up and read the same thing. A lone tear escaped from her eyes and just then kamila woke up.
She noticed the card on Taqeeya's hand and looked up at her. Without uttering anything she stood up and gave her sister in law a hug. They both needed that.
"It's going to be fine. I'm here" she managed to say which came out as a whisper. And they released each other.
"Enough now. I want to see if my yaya really went with what I chose for you"
And just then she opened the box.
A simple silver bracelet was laid in it. Three blue roses were placed at the beginning ,middle and end of the bracelet. It was one of a kind.
"He actually went for it".
"You knew about this?"
"Uh yeah. He showed it to me and asked for my opinion about it"
"You made the right choice "
She said smiling at the bracelet."Okay okay enough with the emotions. Mami said the driver would come after asr. You should eat something before then"
"Okay. I'll be down in ten minutes I still have a little things to pack up"
"Okay"
And she left.
Just like how kamila is the only girl out of three boys, Bilal was surrounded by four girls. Two up and two down. They call him the middle man.
She came down the stairs with a maroon box behind her and a little undie bag of the same colour.
"Kamila just leave it to the driver when he comes he'll bring whatever it is you have downstairs "
Taqeeya who was stuffing her face with an icecream sundae said.
"Don't worry this is the last one"
"Come sit I'll serve you"
"Thanks"
Fifteen minutes later the driver showed up. Two drivers actually showed up.
Their dad's driver and ........another guy.
"Sadam" Taqeeya squealed and made her way to him.
Kamila had a confused look on her face. She knows almost all of Bilal's relatives but he has never mentioned this sadam guy. He did mention one of his cousins studying in Italy though but his name never spoken of.
"Oh I almost forgot. Sadam this is my namesake but we call her kamila, kamil this is sadam, my favorite cousin. Don't tell Asiya".
"Hi" he said with a smile which she replied with the same enthusiasm.
"I don't know you. No offence "
He said with his hands halfway up in surrender."It's okay. I don't know you either. Uhm I'll just go check and make sure everything is taken out. Excuse me"
And she left.
He kept on looking at her until she was completely out of sight.
Taqeeya snapped her fingers in front of his eyes which brought him back to reality.
"What are you thinking?" She asked
"Uhm it's just that I think I saw her in someplace ".
"Maybe during yaya's wedding. You do know that she's your sister in law right?"
"Wait she's the one?"
"Mhm"
"Finally met her,how is she? Within these months I know it hasn't been easy for her"
"She's trying. Like really hard. I don't want to talk about it now. Tell me how have you been? How's Italy? When are you going back?"
"Whoa. Slow down T. One at a time. I'll tell you everything when we get back home".
"Okay".
After about thirty minutes of loading the truck with her things it was finally time to go.
She stood by the entrance and looked at the huge mansion one last time. It's time to let it go. All tyr memories behind.
She went to the back seat while Taqeeya sat at the front seat.
Taqeeya passed her a roll of tissue. She was going to need that.
And that was it.
