A few weeks later, Astrid woke me up early and took me to her laboratory. Showing me a monitor displaying Raven's mind, she pointed out several dark spots on it. Before she could speak, I said, "Those are tumors, aren't they?"

She nodded her head, saying, "If we don't remove them, she will die." We put our hand up. Our eyes asking, "How long until...?" "A week at best," we felt the look of defeat on our faces as we walked out, back to our room where Raven was waiting, sat up on the bed.

We picked her up and held her, knowing this might be the last time. "Mommy, what's wrong?" Nothing, just some grown-up stuff... "Ok mommy" ... We paused for a minute and then asked if she wanted to go to Dr. Howard's Zoo, her eyes lit up with excitement.

We helped her get dressed and started walking to the elevator and stepped inside and watched as the floor number changed until we reached the 4th floor. Doctor Howard was bent over his monitors hanging from the ceiling.

Raven sprinted towards him, he dropped to one knee with his arms open, ready. She leaped into his arms, lifting her up by her waist he looked at me saying, "Emily, what brings you here?" We shot him a look, saying, "Let her answer, I'll explain later."
