My mind is like an anchor.
Forever thinking, further sinking;
Finding its home on the ocean floor.
The sun, all but a hazy speck
On the water's rippling surface overhead,
Until I can't possibly dive anymore.Some days, most days,
As I gaze at the sky so far above me,
I wish only to conjure the strength―
Some way, some how, somewhere within me,
To reach out and take what's in my grasp;
To cut that rope that tethers me to my anchor.Alas, my mind is the anchor
That on its own weighs me down,
Pulling me deeper and deeper
Into the depths and darkness of my own despair;
Bound and buried by my own shame,
Constricted by the burden of my lasting regret.My mind is an anchor.
I only wish one day to see the surface again.✘
