Timeline: Avengers: Age of Ultron

We were called on a mission to infiltrate and take down a Hydra base in Sokovia. I was flying with Tony taking down hydra agents left and right. Tony hit one of their defenses and groaned

"Shit" 

"Language!" I started laughing and kept Following Tony. 

"I think we lost the element of surprise" I heard Clint say

"Hold on are we going to ignore the fact that Cap just said 'language?" Tony asked. I couldn't hold in my laughter anymore

"I know. It just slipped out." Steve groaned

"Oh leave him alone Tony" I commented. Soon I heard Steve groan

"We have an enhanced on the field"

"Clint's hit" Nat said

"I can heal him. I'm on my way!" I said, flying toward Clint and Natasha. I landed and saw how badly he was hurt. I moved Natasha away and used my powers to heal him as quickly as I could. 

"You okay Barton?" I asked, helping him up

"Sore but I'll live" he said groaning and falling in pain once more. I checked his wound, it should have healed. My powers were on the fritz

"Clint's hurt bad, I'm gonna get him to the jet as fast as possible" I said over Coms, helping him up once more

"Be careful, Sage." I heard Steve say. I didn't reply as I helped Clint get to the quinjet. 

"I thought you fixed me?" He asked. I sighed

"It should have healed you already. I don't know why it's not working." I said. I lifted my hand and tried to figure out what was wrong. I tried healing Clint's wound once more but nothing happened.

"Guys my powers aren't working!" I said frantically. 

"Stay calm Sage" Nat instructed. I took a few deep breaths and dressed his wound as best as I could. Clint grabbed my wrist and tried to calm me down. It felt like hours before the rest of the team gathered in the jet. 

"What's wrong?" Thor asked, walking up to me

"I don't know." I breathed out. I looked at my hands and they shook uncontrollably. Putting all my focus on them I tried making the whisps of light but they never came.

"Im useless now." I whispered. Steve's head whipped around. I could feel his gaze glued to me. I felt Thor pull me to the other side of the jet. He started trying to calm me down but I still felt scared and anxious.  

"Sage, you okay?" I heard Steve ask. Thor looked at me and walked away, leaving me and Steve alone. 

"Don't call yourself useless. You can work just fine without your powers. You've done it before." He tried reassuring me. I just looked down

"Clint could have died. I was only able to heal him a bit and then it stopped working." I whispered. Steve placed a hand on my cheek and lifted my head up. 

"He's stronger than he looks." I took a deep breath to calm myself down. We landed and Bruce ushered me into the Lab to wait for Tony. Bruce wanted to take some tests to see what was going on with me. I looked behind and saw Steve walking out of the jet with Maria Hill. 

"Do you know what could have happened?" Bruce asked me, turning my attention back to him. I shrugged my shoulders

"I have no idea. I've had these for a while but I haven't used them since being banished from Asgard. Do you think I used them too much?" I asked.  Bruce drew some blood from my arm and ran it through the lab systems. 

"I guess we will wait and see after these tests. I'm going to check on Clint." He sighed. I gave him a nod and sat staring at the wall. Tony walked in and started talking to Jarvis before noticing me sitting there.

"How are you doing, Parker?" He asked. 

"Alright, I guess." I responded. Tony gave me a look, he knew I was lying. Since I worked for him he learned to read me like a book. I ran my fingers through my hair and looked over at him. 

"What do you want me to say, Tony? I'm freaking out now because I feel useless without my powers. Clint could have died on my watch because I couldn't heal him." I said, getting up.

"But it wouldn't have been your fault. I have Dr. Cho in the other room working on him right now. He will be just fine." Tony put his hands on my shoulders. I looked right into his eyes and I could tell he was being genuine. Tony pulled me into a tight hug, holding me for a minute before pulling away.

"Sage! Your results came in and everything looks good. Just rest and test your powers in a few hours or so." bruce said walking back into the lab. I nodded and looked at Tony once more before leaving.

Steves pov: 

I was walking with Sam Wilson during one of Tonys parties. He decided to celebrate the mission in Sokovia

"You found a place in Brooklyn yet?" He asked

"I don't think I can afford a place in Brooklyn." I looked around the room trying to find Sage. I haven't seen her since we landed. 

"Well, home is home ya know." I sighed at his comment and that's when she came into view. She was walking over to Natasha in an emerald green tank top and some black leggings. Her hair was slightly curled at the ends but she was still breathtaking as the day I met her. 

"Yeah, I guess it is." I kept staring until Sam hit my arm. I looked over and he had a big smile on his face

"Whos the girl?" He asked. I laughed and looked back at her. She turned and our eyes met. She gave me a smile and wave before turning back to Natasha.

"Sage Parker, we met when Loki started causing chaos." Sam nudged my shoulder and encouraged me to talk to her. I think she already gets the hint that I like her but I didn't want to make a move yet. 

"Thor, what are you doing?" She asked as I walked over

"This has been aged for 1000 years" Thor said handing me a shot glass. Sage looked at me and shook her head

"Don't drink that" She warned. I laughed as wondered why. Her eyes rolled and she laughed

"One drink will get a mortal stupidly drunk." I watched as thor downed some of his flask and I did the same. Sage looked at me with wide eyes

"The serum made me immune to the effects of alcohol." I winked and she started laughing

"You're such an ass, Rogers." I smiled as I watched her walk away toward Tony. Turning around I noticed Natasha and Bruce talking at the bar. 

"That's nice. You and Romanoff." I said, walking toward him. Natasha had grabbed her drink and left. 

"Oh no thats not-" Bruce stuttered out. I held out a hand to stop him

"Its okay, no ones breaking any bylaws. Shes just not the most open person in the world." I said.

"Natasha likes to flirt."

"look, as maybe the world's leading authority on waiting too long. Dont." I said, My eyes drifted from Bruce over to Sage who was laughing with Tony in the distance. 

"Don't wait too long either Cap." He said, bringing my attention back to him.

"I know Sage feels something for you. I'm, not the only one who sees it." He said before walking away. I was left standing there not knowing what to do. 

"Hey Cap!" I heard her voice call. I turned and saw the rest of the team sitting around and drinking

"Come join us!" Sage called once my eyes met hers. My heart started to race as I walked up and sat next to her. As soon as I sat down, she handed me a drink and rested her head on my shoulder. Thor looked over and raised his glass in approval. I guess I shouldn't wait too long. I don't want to mess this up again.
