The waterfall was a place she associated with many emotions. It was a part of her home, her family, her Mormont home, it was her ground. But it was also the place where she wanted to end the pain. The place where she had tried to kill herself for the first time.
The place that held her pain between the raging waters. The place where she could throw herself down. But whether she would do it was another matter entirely. Alyssa growled as she felt her rider, the feelings raging inside her were also felt by the bear. The lady dismounted and approached the waterfall with slow steps.
The wind blew around her and pulled at her clothes. But it was not strong enough - not as strong as Otto's - to disembowel her. He would go down before she would bow to him. I could push him down, she thought, and looked down. The water gushed and splashed white, the spray had shaped, eroded and renewed the stone over the centuries.
It was like the bears on eternally exist and yet not eternally. ,,Are you going to have children?" she asked Alyssa, turning to face her bear. Alyssa growled and roared at her, she seemed to know what would happen. ,,I hope it dies," came the words over her mouth. But seconds later she had a hand on her belly. She knew if she was pregnant or if it had not worked. Was it her right to decide at all? Was she in this position in this game to wish for something.
In the game of the throne there was such a thing as right and wrong. Was there a right side, was there the right ruler or ruleress? She did not know, she hardly knew anything and yet she knew one thing. She would remain eternally loyal to Rhaenyra and Daemon and her house. The north was her home and yet the two dragons were her love.
Rhaenyra and Daemon were the ones she would follow. They were the ones she trusted. She would take a role sooner or later. ,,Every lie and gossip comes to light," she murmured as she leaned against Alyssa and began to write on the paper. Letters to Rhaenyra and Daemon. But something inside her said that she was missing something important going on in King's Landing. The last thing she knew was that Rhaenyra was going to marry Laenor Velaryon. Daemon she did not know what was going on with him.
Viserys was caught between the throne of Alicent and his daughter. The prince Aeogon the second was still a toddler. But the moves made each steadily. And she herself. What would she do herself? She knew that Otto had a plan for her child.
But what was it? What was his plan with his child, which he might not even have. Shaking her head, she continued to tell them both what had happened so far. About the night, the Starks, the dragons and Otto. Asked what had happened to them. And baht that they were both careful. She didn't trust Otto one bit, but it was mutual.
She knew as well as he did that if she did not give him children, neither the north would go to him nor any other piece. It was she who had power and not he. He was only the second born son. He was not Lord Hightower. She, on the other hand, was Lady Mormont. She could appoint her uncle as her heir at any time and according to the law this would happen. She had to dissolve the marriage with Otto, but that was a completely different and difficult task. She also knew that in a few weeks she would have to leave here again.
They would have to go to his home. In the Hightower in Oldtwon. She had never been there and did not want to. The cold that surrounded them was like a protective barrier, something that those living in the north knew to appreciate at some point. Not for nothing was the saying of the house Stark the winter is coming.
Her words flowed down to the letters and she felt the small tension for news from King's Landing. She had no allies except for Rhaenyra, Daemon and an aging Viserys. A dangerous game. She did not know how much time had passed, but when she arrived back at her castle on Alyssa, the sun slowly set behind the hills and forests. ,,My lady, I have taken the liberty of having ravens ready," she heard her foster father say, pointing to the cages with the animals. ,,As if you had eyes and ears everywhere," she quipped and handed him the different letters. ,,I will send them immediately," he said and went to the animals.
