Luna's POV

February 15 2023

Hoboy. It's my first day at a new school, and already some things are clear:

1: The ginger boy with the round face and the blond boy with the Kansas shirt are definitely a thing.

2: The short kid with the buzz cut is mentally unstable.

3: The tall girl with curly brown hair is a b/tch.

4: Someone's staring at me.

Wait, what? I turn around, taking my attention from CNN 10 to the kid with the buzz cut, who, like I thought, is staring at me. They realize that I know, and quickly shift their eyes to the board.

When CNN 10 is over, the kid approaches my desk.

"Hi," they say.

"Hi," I say back.

"I'm Maria. I use he/they pronouns." They say.

"I'm Luna. I also use he/they pronouns." I say.

"D'ya wanna sit by me and my peeps at lunch?" They ask.

"I'd love to." I reply.

Maria smiles, and I realize that they kind of look like the ginger boy.

"So, are they, like, a thing?" I ask, gesturing to the two boys.

"Bill and Alex? For sure." Maria says.

"BILEX!!" Yells a taller kid with purple hair.

"Luna, this is Em. Em, Luna." Maria says.

"Pleasure." I say, shaking Em's hand.

Maria's POV

Do I like-like Luna?

Okay, I guess I do have a crush now.

Should I tell them?

I wouldn't want to overwhelm them on their first day.

Seems like too much to handle.

I'll tell them tomorrow.

This is what I think about for most of math.
