Chapter 133: Luck Doing its Part

After Mami became his student, Shiro tried to awaken her circuits; however, it all went according to his theory. Rather than the body, Magic Circuits are attached to the soul.

This is the reason why he didn't succeeded with Mami's awakening. Her soul is stored inside the Soul Gem, thus it couldn't manifest as a "pseudo-nervous" system; she needs to have a connection between the body and the soul.

After all, its usage involved the conversion of physical nerves into the metaphysical Magic Circuits, turning the body into a container for magecraft.

Still, he gave her the basic magecraft books that were written and printed out by him. The use of her Soul Gem can completely substitute Magic Circuits, so she's able to use them.

With all that, Shiro left and went to eat his breakfast. Thankfully, he spotted another restaurant in which he ordered an omurice.

As he waited, he took out a pair of wireless earphones and wore it.

"Shiro!"

"Are you alright?"

He hadn't forgotten the two on the [Lightcube]. Knowing that they connected to the outside world, they must've seen him getting out of the factory all bloodied.

"I'm fine."

"Really..?" Strea asked with a huge doubt in her tone. Ever since they got together with him, that is the first time they saw Shiro being that injured. Even when he fought off against Heathcliff, he's really chill about it.

"I'll trust you this time."

Unexpectedly, Cardinal said helplessly as she added, "Though, I can see your favoritism with young girls."

Shiro deadpanned upon hearing this. He'd already realized how tough it would be to accompany someone with Touka's personality—they'll take a jab every now and then. Of course, this made his life more fun and interesting, so he didn't mind playing with Cardinal.

"Eh? Shiro?! Don't get arrested!" Strea said with genuine concern. She knew many things thanks to the internet and one of them are laws.

"...I wouldn't because I didn't do anything wrong."

Seeing that Shiro gave her no chance to make a jab, Cardinal went to her normal self.

"What do you plan to do here?" She asked.

"Here? We'll finish the mission first. Maybe there's something useful in the [Store] that can help Madoka-chan to avoid being a Witch."

The [Store] section is undeniably luxurious, but each item in it are miraculous. An example of that is the [Magic Circuit Enhancement: Quantity] and [Magic Circuit Enhancement: Quality].

They both costed 5,000 Points, which gave someone a certain chance to enhance his/her circuits. This success rate depends on the amount and quality of the Magic Circuits, so it's the same as gambling in the [Random Spin].

The point here is that... Magic Circuits are fixed at birth and only by doing some painful procedures, such as how Shirou Emiya forcefully converted his own nerves to Magic Circuits due to Kiritsugu's stupid machinations.

"Well, let's focus on the rewards first." He murmured.

The innocent Strea became excited along with Shiro. The latter didn't mind telling them about his system since they already knew about his [World Travel] shenanigans and he trusted them enough based on what he saw. Both of these souls didn't conceal anything unlike Mami, laying bare their true feelings at him.
