When the door opened, all of Sonic's friends, and Star especially, were surprised to see the male blue twin practically hugging onto Shadow, with his ears down and his eyes red from fresh tears. Sonic's friends were even more surprised that Shadow was allowing Sonic to cling to him, and that his facial features held a certain tender care expression as he gazed down at his rival. Their blood ran cold when Shadow suddenly reached up to Sonic's head and started to gently pet his quills back.

Who was this person? Because this was certainly not the Shadow the Hedgehog they knew of.

"What happened in there?" Knuckles was the first to ask.

"Just a talk." Shadow explained, his eyes never leaving the blue figure next to him. He gestured with his head to the other female blue hedgehog. "I believe you have something you want to talk to your sister about, Sonic?"

Sonic nodded and pulled himself away from Shadow, hugging himself with his head down as he approached his twin sister. When they were standing face to face he finally looked up at her. Before Star could say anything, Sonic sniffed and practically lunged himself into her arms, wrapping his own around her and hugging her tightly.

"I'm so sorry, sis." He started with another sniff. "I never meant to hurt you."

Star's eyes widened, tears coming to them as she quickly hugged back just as tight. "What are you talking about? I'm the one that hurt you. I used my Song Blast against you even though I knew it was unstable. I'm so sorry."

"No." Sonic shook his head against her shoulder. "No. It's not your fault. You had to use your Song Blast against me otherwise you weren't going to win. I pushed you to use it. It's not your fault. I never should've made you fight with me, and I never should've fought with Shadow. It's just that... that..."

"I know... I know... You don't trust him."

"No... that's not it."

Everyone but Shadow froze when he said that. If it wasn't because he distrusted Shadow that he didn't want Star dating him, then what else could it be?

Sonic sniffed again and pulled away from the hug, looking up into the matching green eyes of his sister. "I didn't want you dating Shadow... because I was jealous."

"Jealous?"

"Yes. I was jealous of him because I had just got you back."

Star's ear twitched in confusion, the same expression in her eyes. "What do you mean?"

Sonic hung his head in shame. "You... left when we were sixteen. That was four years ago. I've missed you ever since... and I prayed that I would get to see you again... Have you all to myself again... And when you called... and you announced that you were staying, I thought that my prayers had been answered... But then you fell in love with Shadow... and I thought he was gonna take you away from me."

Star's heart shattered. She had no idea that Sonic was feeling this way. She lowered her ears and pulled him back into a hug. "Oh Sonic, I had no idea that you felt this way. You should know that you'll never lose me. We may not always be together, but the bond between twins is unbreakable. I'll always be with you, and I'll always be your sister, no matter what."

"Yeah, Shadow said the same thing."

"Well then he's right. You'll always have me, baby brother. No matter what."

"Heh, you're only older by 15 minutes."

Star chuckled and nuzzled him. "I know. But I still came first."

Sonic purred into the hug, enjoying his sister's nuzzling. Something about what she said made something stir inside of him... And much to everyone's surprise, including Star's... he started to sing.

"You were there before me. And what a pair we eventually would be." He looked at the Christian Cross necklace on Star's chest, playing with it a bit. " My older blood, you were made in God's hand. And I've learnt so much, could you even understand? That you were my guiding light in our early days. You'd help me to sleep at night, when I was afraid." Star knew that he was referencing his lullaby that she and Shadow had sang to him earlier. "Then you'd be there by my side and I never say enough. That I love you."

Everyone's heart warmed when they heard Sonic singing such a beautiful song about siblinghood to his sister. But nobody's heart was more warmed than Star's as tears of joy started coming to her eyes, hugging him tighter. Sonic smiled and continued.

"When we'd fight it would be. Over right before I could say sorry. And though you're far from where home used to be. I will always go where you are if you need. Because you were my guiding light when I tried to sing. You'd teach me to harmonize." He tried not to giggle as Star harmonized with him on that last word. " And with everything you'd be there to fight my fight and I never say enough. That I love you."

Sonic then pulled away from the hug and gently held her face, making her look directly into his shining eyes.

"You were there before me. And I'm so thankful you gave your love to me."

Star sniffed and laughed a bit through her tears before pulling him back into her arms. "That was beautiful, Sonic... Thank you."

"You're welcome, sissy."

Star laughed again at the nickname. He hadn't called her "sissy" since they were toddlers. It still was so cute to hear the word coming from him.

They stayed like that for about another minute or two before they finally released each other. Star wiped the tears away from her eyes as Sonic suddenly gently grabbed Shadow by his elbow and pulled him over to her side. "If you two really absolutely want to be together, then I give you my blessing... As long as Shadow promises to take good care of you and to never break your heart again."

"Oh, trust me, Sonic." Shadow smiled, gently taking Star's hand into his own, the two of them blushing as they gazed into each other's eyes with love. "I do plan to. I do plan to take good care of her. I don't plan on ever breaking her heart. And I plan to be her duet partner for a very long time. Maybe someday... permanently?"

Star blushed at the thought of them being a permanent relationship, her eyes sparkling at the idea. Sonic laughed and shook his head. "One step at a time, you two."

"I guess that means the public has to start accepting you two as a legit couple now." Rouge spoke up.

"Yeah, as if that's gonna happen." Star rolled her eyes. "They won't accept us until they believe that Sonic has accepted us. All because Shadow is his rival."

When Sonic heard that was the reason why people were still rumoring about Star and Shadow, he frowned down at the floor, deep in thought. His ears perked up, suddenly gasping as he looked up at Star. "Sis. Call Drake and tell him to meet us at the city park. Tell him to bring all the equipment you used for your concert."

"What are you planning, hedgehog?" Shadow frowned in curiosity, tilting his head a bit.

"I think I have an idea. And it has to do with you two singing together."
