"I want to tell you this for a long time, but--"

"Gabriel, are you perhaps gay?" she chuckles hard.

"Bruh, didn't expect that from you!"  He says with a little bit of bummer.

"Come on, just say it, spill the beans!!!" she screams shaking him hard.

"It's it's --" Gabriel mutters who was paused by A call from Meera. "In a minute," she says Pinching his cute face.

"What?!"  Rinku exclaims. "I'm so sorry, when? Oh my god," she starts to sound worried.

"Anything wrong?"

Rinku gestures to Gabriel to keep quiet as she was dealing with a critical situation.

She was so tensed and agitated on hearing this heart-wrenching news that her Neighbour aunty Kannama has passed away!

"She was such a dear, Gabriel. Practically speaking, she raised me more than my mum did," Tears start to shed from her eyes lavishly.

"Oh dear, come here." He says pulling her into his arms. He slowly tugs her hair and comforts her.

She starts to sob heavily that his hoods got wet. "I'm here, standing useless. I can't even say goodbye to her,"

"I'm sorry, and I'll be sure to pray to God for her peace," Gabriel says patting her. "Don't you dare to blame yourself,"

"But I still can't see her," she still sobs as her phone rings again. "It's Meera,"

"Kuku, I'm sorry. Please, please don't cry. " Meera manages to make Rinku change by making funny faces.

"Stop, Meera. I'm not in the mood! " She screams which was in resonance with her tears.

"I know how much Kannama Aunty meant to you, but you have to get to reality," Meera says optimistically.

"I know, but I won't get to say goodbye!"

"I'll stay with her today if you want me to,"

"Nitwit, you planning on taking leave, aren't you?" Rinku laughs for the first time in these thirty minutes.

"Damn, party pooper! I don't think that is the apt reason, but we'll, if you insist so, yes. Yes." Meera mutters.

"I know you since we were three, nitwit!" Rinku chuckles.

Meera never misses the chance to make Rinku happy. Whatever the situation may be, she tries to make humor out of it. We could say that she is an optimist.

Remember, the fifteenth birthday of Rinku (chapter 12) where Her cake was cut by her brother Hari. Rinku was crying hard and Meera said to her that, they'll take revenge on Hari's birthday.

And guess what? They did. They took revenge.

Revenge is a dish best-served cold.

Rinku and Meera told to Hari that he was having a surprise, where they got Hari's eyes closed and they made him sit in the refrigerator saying that it was the snow world.

Their parents didn't realize until the fridge door rang saying that the door is half closed.

"Rinku, I told you to close the fridge door for the hundredth time!" Her mom yelled from the kitchen.

"I did,"

"Then why is that stupid freezing machine making noise?" Her mom said approaching the fridge.

"Mom, it's so cool in there! Come and sit with me." Stupid Hari fumed.

He was soaking wet and trembling, yet he seemed thrilled.

"Arey, Rama! Muttal Kanna! come out of the fridge." Rinku's mom said picking her son from the fridge.

"Who made you sit there?"

"Akka teleported me here, ma! She's a philosopher, like Harry Potter! " He cacked.

"Rinku, come here now,"

"Oh aunty, she's not here. Just went out," shouted Meera from Rinku's room.

"I know you are in there, Cinderella. Come to your mom," Rinku's mother said which was rhyming.

"Ma, I said I'm not here," Rinku pops out of nowhere. "Shit. Shit."

"Ha, caught yewww" ma squealed.

"Fine, I don't want my pocket money for this week " Rinku surrendered.

"That's good but I have an exclusive offer for you," her mother paused for a reply. As Rinku further nods her face she continues. "If you agree to babysit your brother this weekend while your dad and I go to your cousin Kumar's wedding, I'll double your pockey pockey."

And that's how she got a princely sum of money for ordering matching PJs.

Back to normal:

Meera's stupid acts anyhow end up being a positive thing, which is quite miraculous.

"I don't want Mrs. Priya to scold you," Rinku squeaks. "You must go to school today. Boards are just around the corner,"

"Fine, Mother." Groans Meera deep. "But what about Kannama Aunty?"

"I'm praying for her constant peace, you need not worry." She converses. "It's Gabe's thought,"

"Man, I thought we were a team,"  Meera says fake disappointed.

"We gotta go, buh bye," says Gabriel hanging up Rinku's phone to Meera.

"Why did you cut the call,"

"I should confess, Rinku. It's time," Gabe speaks with guilt. "Please, I'm not in the mood to deal with more stuff. Please??" Rinku pleads.

"But, Rinku--"

"Come on, Gabriel! " She says dragging him out to the balcony. " How about we go swimming and get relaxed?"

"Rinku, I'm serious!"

"Me too, Gabriel. I just can't take anymore. I'm sure it's something important, and that's why I'm asking you to spare me a day, just a day." She grasps his hands. "That woman was equal to my mother, she raised me. She took care of me, she even promised me that she'll stay with me. I'm disappointed, Gabriel. Please. Understand me,"

"Babe, I know how exactly you feel, but this is-"

"I'm going into the water," she says unzipping her shirt and trousers.

Her face was gloomy and tired, all she wanted now was some shit piece of peace.

She slowly dipped her gleaming legs into the warm water. Her body immediately responded to her act by shivering a bit. Soon, she was completely immersed in the dihydrogen oxide.

She closed her eyes tightly while staying in the water for about five whole minutes. She was feeling agony to the fullest.

"The feeling when you can't be with a person you loved and still love at their funeral is just sorrow."

Finally, she peeks her head out of the water and breathes heavily. She moves her hands and legs rapidly and reaches the island area in the pool, where she stretches her body and just lies there gazing at the vast expanse of sky above her.

The thought that she and Kannama Aunty won't be under the same sky added to her sorrow.

Words can't describe how much she misses her aunt. She was at least made herself satisfied that her loved ones are out somewhere away from a thousand miles, but now she'd lost one.

"I'm sorry, very much. I really I am." Gabriel reaches Rinku by padding across the pool. "I know how you feel, Rinku." He hesitates. "But this is more important to me, I can't keep lying to you about this anymore, I just can't."
