Seattle, Washington.
June 18th, 2023. — SARAI'S 18TH BIRTHDAY.

"Ugh." Rai groaned, rubbing her eyes and then closing them again. "What the hell?" She rubbed her nose and her eyes again.

Sitting up, her eyes fluttered open and she gasped, laughing at the decorations that covered her room. "No freaking way." She laughed even more, raising to her knees.

There were pink streamers hanging from her ceiling, cute little silver stars scattered across her bed and floor, along with big pink balloons that said 18 and her name.

"Happy birthday!" Everyone barged into her room, all jumping on her bed to hug her.

"Oh!" She squealed, giggling hysterically when Zaire, Omar, and Aubree kissed all over her face. "Guyssss."

"Happy birthday, honey." Zaire said softly when everyone got off of her. "I can't believe you're 18 now." He twisted his lips slightly and Sarah pouted.

"Aww, don't cry." Sarai wrapped her arms around him, smiling widely.

"Told you he was gon' cry." Omar said. "Run me my money."

"It's no way y'all bet on if I cried or not." Zaire blinked at them.

"And did." Aubree laughed and then stopped, blushing when Zaire just stared at her. "It was his idea." She said quickly, pointing at Omar.

"Now what? I'll be downstairs." Omar kissed Rai's head and glanced at Zaire before walking out of the room.

"Yikes, that's still going on?" Rai got up off of her bed and sighed, scratching her hair through her bonnet as she walked into her bathroom.

"Bruh I thought we were good after that shit when he got shot, nope. Then I thought we were good after some other shit recently and he still not fuckin' wit' me." Zaire rolled his eyes, sitting on the closed toilet seat while Aubree sat on the edge of the tub. "Here, you can sit on the seat. Come on."

"Zay it's not that serious, I'm okay." Aubree waved him off and he stared at her, making her roll her eyes. "I can stare back too."

"So if you fall and hit yo' fat ass head then what? Who you gon' cry to?"

"You but that's not the point, focus." She squinted making him laugh. She laughed too and they cleared their throat, looking at Sarai who was staring at them with a blank face. "You can sit there." Bree muttered, looking away.

"Are you gonna brother hop? At least just give me a heads up this time," Rai went back to brushing her teeth, spitting the toothpaste out. She grabbed her face cloth and began to wash her face.

"Jesus, Sarai." Zaire pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a laugh.

"I mean I would've preferred her to choose you from the jump but hey, she saw... whatever she did in Carlos." Sarai put her moisturizer on her face and took her bonnet off, humming as she decided what to do to it. "Iron curls or straight?"

"Iron curls, you didn't pay $500 to wear that hair straight all the time." Aubree shrugged, dismissing the Zaire topic. He glanced at her and she looked at him and back at her lap.

"True but I didn't buy it, Demontae did so that'll be a waste of his money." She plugged her iron in, "Not mine." She smiled at the end.

"You all in our business like you not to have you a new nigga in a month or two." Zaire raised his eyebrow.
