DEEP SIX

"Maddie?" Theo pulled away from her in a swift movement but still holding her by her upper arm.
"Gahhh" he groaned he felt the pain in his bicep
"Oh god Theo you're hurt?!" She sat him down and a first aid kit appeared.
"Wait- wha- Maddie, how-what's happening right now? Is this real? you know who I am?? How??"
She was feverishly trying to dress his wound and at the same time wiping away the tears on her face. She looked him dead in the eyes with a serious face.
"Yes of course I do! Theo what is happening right now am I doing this? Is this me?? How are you here with me right now??? I know this is my dream, but I cannot remember much of anything I just know that I need to wake up but I can't! Are we in my Mingle?? Is it broken or something? I don't even know how I got here! help me Theo please! " fearful tears flooded her eyes, "I-I woke up here, in this dream, in bed next to him so I assumed we were together. But he was so ...horrible! I would never ever in a million years date someone like him" her voice got a bit shaky and she started pacing the room  "he said and did the most horrible things to me I thought this couldn't be my dream, I thought i was in his Mingle but I don't remember meeting him in real life so then I thought  who is he and how could I be in his Mingle if I don't even know him, well that's when it all started to literally come crashing down, I got scared, I was scared for my life, and each time my mind race or each bad thought I had everything was crashing around me, when we got here he got worse, he - he slapped me so hard it knocked me to the ground and when I saw my reflection in the building glass I didn't recognize the face staring back at me I thought he was going to kill me, he was so angry, I was so scared" her voice was breaking "I swear I didn't plan to kill him, I was just going to scare him but - but—" she broke down in tears. Theo grabbed her and held her she sobbed heavily.
Suddenly The building started shaking violently
"Under the table now!" Theo shouted.
They both got under the table in a hurry
"Maddie I can't tell you how relieved and happy I feel talking to you right now, it's a lot to take in, after what I've seen..." he was trailing off " right yes listen to me very carefully, we don't have the time this very instant for me to explain everything to you but trust me please, what I need you to do right now is just to center your mind and try to calm down. Deep breaths. I promise you everything is going to be okay, but Maddie only you can get us out of here alive, I'm here and I'm not leaving you until we're safe but I need you to close your eyes and go to a happy place in your mind . Settle your fears."
She was looking around still scared and nervous the shaking had not stopped but it was lessening in intensity.
"Do you trust me Maddie?"
"Yes, yes of course I do..." The shaking reintensified, "oh my godddd Theoooo, this isn't me I'm not doing this!!"
Theo spoke calmly and softly, he had to be calm to keep her calm,
"It's okay, we're going to be okay, I promise."
She let out a deep breath,
"okay" she nodded. "Okay"
She was calming down he could see it. The shaking came to a slow murmur.
"Is this me Theo? Am I doing this?"
"I think so" he shook his head
Suddenly! The shaking got stronger!
"Theo look at me!" She held him by the shoulders and looked straight in his eyes, "I promise you I'm not doing this," she looked around in a panic "so who is??" She asked loudly
Theo was at a loss, this was indeed a full on mare and he didn't know how to get them out, not this time, if this building was about to collapse, they were doomed, and now if Maddie was not in control, then who was, and how?
"If this isn't you, I have an idea of who it might be, but we're very close to being out of time, I don't know how long we have but the only way out is for you to go to sleep and—"
"Sleep???! Now???! Wha-"
"Madison, we're out of time, that is the only way" he was trying so hard to keep his voice calm and steady as to create a peaceful space just for them amidst the shaking and chaos. He then lay down on the carpeted floor he put his arm out motioning for her to lay next to him. She did.
"Close your eyes, try to relax, slow deep breaths, calm your mind into sleepiness, you can do it, just keep your eyes closed don't open them not for a second and breathe deeply and slowly, It's gonna be okay, you're still in control" he said without even knowing if that was true. " and when you wake up I'd explain everything and then we're gonna go home,"
"I trust you" she placed her hand on his chest as she said it, he then held her hand. "You promise I'd see you on the other side?" Her voice was soft.
"I promise" and he gave her hand a soft kiss.
She let out a deep breath, she was settled, he could feel her calm energy. He looked at his jumper, it was lighting up. He synced it to her earrings.
Maddie kept her eyes closed and tried to lull herself to sleep by calming her mind and deep breathing. Theo stayed silent.
'Get us out of here Maddie please' he thought. The rumbling noises were getting louder, the shaking continued, less intense but it was steady, but they lay there, peacefully and calmly. Theo closed his eyes too, he hoped that he would never come back to the mare again.
