Meanwhile, Lisa ignored how others had perceived him. His status had provided him with many conveniences. Ever since young, not many people had dared to question his decision. As time went by, decided on his own that having no one question him was his right.
As such, he had been very livid over the accident that happened four years ago. This was especially after it happened, the only family member he respected and watched him grow up, his grandpa, had sided with the woman and forced him to marry her.
As a result, Lisa had fought back very hard. Over the past years, he had been treating the previous Jennie indifferently. He did not even stay in the same room on the day of their wedding. But, now...
Lisa gave a glance at the angry woman beside him without leaving a trace. A faint emotion flickered in his eyes.
Perhaps, he should thank his grandfather for his foresight.
Lisa ignored Jennie's resistance. He wrapped around her shoulders with his hand and with a slight force, he pushed her into his arms dominantly and said in a low voice, "Regardless if you guys believe my words, I'm going to remarry Jennie. She's also my child's mother. From now on, I don't want to hear any gossip related to her. Otherwise, with the Manoban family's strength, settling those shrewish women who like to gossip is just a piece of cake."
It was rare to see Lisa speak so much at once. Hints of threat and insults were caught in his words.
His words had clearly hinted to Ji-yeon and Woobin that regardless of whether they believed him, he would have Jennie's back.
Even though what he said was false, Jennie was undoubtedly his child's mother.
As long as Lisa admitted it himself, with Leo as the medium between them, they remained as a family.
Whoever belonged to Lisa was also considered part of the members of the Manoban family. If the members of the Manoban family were bullied, how could they not bully the person back?
Lisa's plain-spoken threatening remarks got Ji-yeon's face growing increasingly troubled. Meanwhile, at the side, Raewon had cold sweat as he heard Lisa's words. He cast a pleading glance at Woobin.
Woobin naturally got his younger brother's hint to seek help from him. However, he did not react to Raewon's plea for help. Instead, he looked away as if to completely disengage himself from the series of strife before him.
Woobin did not forget how that woman had insulted his daughter not long ago, and also how that woman had driven his wife over the edge. He had been generous enough not to be calculative with them all for the sake of their relationship. Therefore, how could he possibly be speaking up for them at that moment? He was not a saint, after all.
When Raewon noticed Woobin turning away from him, he was a little disappointed. He knew that Ji-yeon and himself had truly offended his big brother and his family.
Raewon pursed his lips. Then, he helped Ji-yeon up and caved in, "Regarding this matter... indeed, we're at fault. President Manoban, we thought that your divorce from Jennie was entirely because of... a clash of personalities. We have never thought that it's because you guys had... a squabble with each other and hence created such a big commotion..."
"T-That's... right." Even though Ji-yeon was reluctant to agree to it, she did not have the guts to confront someone whom even her father had avoided from having a conflict. Therefore, she gritted her teeth and changed the way she spoke. She forced herself to smile and said, "Jennie, how could you squabble with him. Husband and wife should never feud with each other for more than a day. Why must you fight so hard to the point of filing a divorce? Isn't it troublesome to have to remarry?"
Jennie quirked her eyebrow when she saw how desperate Ji-yeon had been pressured the moment Lisa appeared. Just a while ago, Ji-yeon looked so fierce as if she could not wait to rip Jennie's mouth, and within an instant, she changed to become so flattery.
Jennie said to herself, "Indeed, no wonder so many people want power."
Jennie had been cussing and laying her hand on Ji-yeon so many times, yet, Ji-yeon did not seem to fear her. On the contrary, Ji-yeon instantly lost her mind as soon as Lisa walked up and spoke a few words. She did not know if she should laugh or cry over this.
Even though Ji-yeon gave in to them on the surface, her words were filled with resentment. She seemingly expressed her concern about them. In fact, she had discreetly used her identity as their elder and rebuked the two young people for not taking their marriage seriously.
How could Jennie not be able to get the hint from Ji-yeon's words after several rounds of arguments with her? Jennie's eyes darkened.
In order to excite Ji-yeon, Jennie reluctantly took the initiative to hold Lisa's arm and pretended to create an atmosphere of the two of them being so incredibly intimate. She smiled faintly and said, "Aunt, you don't get it. Young people like us are not as conservative and restrained as you guys. We prefer a married life filled with something new and exciting, instead of an unchanging married life. As such, we occasionally create some new ways to enrich our relationship. We call this... Oh, yes! Spicing up our relationship. Aunt, you won't understand all this."
Jennie had fought back Ji-yeon's cynicism by flaunting her affection with Lisa. At the same time, she satirized that Ji-yeon was old and so, she did not understand the young people's mindset as well as had old-fashioned thinking.
Ji-yeon was as angry as a horse with an itchy nose. Despite this, she could not explode considering Lisa was still around. She had to hold back her anger. She gritted her teeth and replied to her, "So, that's how it is. It looks like I can't keep up with young people nowadays."
Jennie smiled and did not say anything further, as if agreeing with what Ji-yeon had said. Ji-yeon was so pissed off that she nearly burst.
However, soon, Ji-yeon realized that this did not anger her the most. Instead, what came next would anger her the most to the point that she had wished to break her teeth and swallow them all.
Even though Lisa had been used by Jennie to retaliate against Ji-yeon, he had no qualms about it. In fact, he was happy. The mighty secretary Xia felt like he had just been forced to watch two people flirting while being reminded that he was still single.
Lisa's eyes sparkled, and a glimpse of glee was caught in his eyes especially when Jennie said that their divorce was none other than the spicing up of the relationship between husband and wife. Jennie felt their eyes popping out of their head when they saw him.
However, Lisa did not forget the purpose of Ji-yeon and Raewon coming here. Lisa narrowed his eyes dangerously and said coldly, "Apart from this, there's still another issue..."
Lisa paused purposefully. Ji-yeon and Raewon gulped with some difficulty and asked, "What's the issue about?"
"It's about your son and Jennie..."
Ji-yeon and Raewon's faces immediately turned white. They had been shouting at Jennie so brazenly before this because they thought that Lisa had hated and abandoned Jennie.
But Lisa had openly appeared to protect Jennie. All his previous hatred and abandonment had been for nothing.
The Young Master Manoban did not hate Jennie. In fact, he seemed to dote on Jennie.
Ji-yeon weighed the pros and cons. Finally, she reluctantly gave in to them. She smiled dryly and said, "That... is a misunderstanding! It's a misunderstanding! A misunderstanding because of the small fight between cousins. It's only a misunderstanding."
