As we reached the restaurant, ginawa ko na agad ang dinner ni sir Gonzalez. I planned to make creamy garlic Tuscan salmon with spinach and sun-dried tomatoes.
I started off with preparing the ingredients which are two teaspoons olive oil, two tablespoons butter, five cloves garlic that's finely diced, one small diced yellow onion, one third cup vegetable broth, five ounces of jarred sun-dried tomato drained in oil, one and three fourth cups of heavy cream, three cups baby spinach leaves, one half cup grated parmesan, and lastly one tablespoon fresh parsley chopped.
Then as I heated the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, I seasoned the salmon filets on both sides with salt and pepper, then I seared it in the hot pan, flesh-side down first, for 5 minutes on each side, or until cooked to your liking. Once the salmon filets were cooked, I removed them from the pan before setting them aside, then in the same pan, I melted the butter in the remaining cooking juices left over. Then added in the garlic and fried it till fragrant for about one minute. Next was the onion which I stir-fried until translucent. I added the sun-dried tomatoes and fried them for 1-2 minutes so they release their flavors.
Finally, pour in the vegetable broth, and allow the sauce to reduce slightly before reducing to low heat, before adding the heavy cream, and bringing it to a gentle simmer, while stirring occasionally. I seasoned the cream sauce with salt and pepper. Then I added in the baby spinach and allowed it to wilt in the sauce, and also added in the parmesan cheese. I allowed the cream sauce to simmer for a further minute until the cheese melted through then I placed the grilled salmon filets back into the pan, sprinkled it with the parsley, and spooned the sauce over each filet.
I served it in the pan with java rice served on the side and as I gave it to Sir Gonzalez he immediately took a bite and complimented my cooking.
"I'm glad to have a wonderful personal chef, this also serves as training on how you'll manage your time as a chef and how you'll be helping your co-peers." I took my leave.
"Hey!" Asher was outside waiting and he greeted me before going inside.
I went straight to the kitchen to help everyone and assist the chef's when called for, It was a really nice training ground especially because not only do I experience what it's like behind the kitchen doors but also because I get to improve my social skills by talking to the others.
"Miss Salvatore, stay behind." I stayed.
"Tomorrow will be another hectic schedule and chef matt won't be with us so I need you to fill in for him" I nodded hiding my smile.
"I need you to be focused, understood?"
"Yes chef!" then I squealed, the moment I was left alone in the kitchen.
Finally, some actual work.
"Keep it down" I was startled by Asher as he walked towards the counter where my phone was placed and stopped the music.
"Sorry, too loud?" I smiled as he handed me my phone.
"I thought someone was getting chased in here," he said then laughed.
"I'll drive you back" I nodded before taking my stuff and heading out to his car with him behind me as he closed the back door.
"So, what got you squealing like a little girl?" he started the car and I put my seatbelt on.
"I was tasked to cook tomorrow for the event!!" I squealed again and opened my arms to hug him as he smiled and congratulated me before hugging me aswell.
"Well then this calls for a celebration" I smiled and nodded.
"Saan mo gusto?" I looked at the clock and it was 11 which meant not a lot of stores were still open.
