A week or so passed. Jess was totally avoiding me. He no longer showed up at my locker to pester me between classes, and anytime I went to Luke's, he would be there, and disappear the second I walked in. I don't think I realized how hard I fell for him until I finally hit the ground and he didn't catch me. I had nobody to complain to about school because Rory adores school, nobody to talk Metallica or The Clash with. Life was quite bland. I was sitting in class as the clock ticked time away, I paid no mind to what the teacher said until I heard my name
"You can sit next to Ms .L/n" The teacher spoke. Jess then walked over to the seat next to me and sat down, not once making eye contact with me. I tried to get him to look at me by throwing small wads of paper at him, kicking his ankles, etc. but I was unsuccessful. Class finally ended and I was quick to throw my stuff in my locker and get my stuff for my next class, I made my way to Jess's locker.
"Jess," I spoke, he ignored me and walked away. "Jess, can we talk?"
"I've gotta get to class, and so do you," He said before turning the corner and heading down the hall to his next class. I watched him disappear before heading to English. Does he hate me? My mood dropped majorly for the rest of the day. I needed to talk to him. School ended and I quickly made my way to Jess's locker, he arrived at his locker and his jaw clenched when he noticed me "Jess, come on, you can't avoid me forever," I said. He ignored me and walked out of the building, I followed him of course. I kept trying to talk to him but he kept ignoring me. He even tried to shake me off and walked on the pathway in the forest, the one with the lake he got pushed into. I've had enough. I grabbed his wrist and he jerked around
"Can you just stop following me?"
"Jess, what do I have to do for you to talk to me?"
"Nothing, because I won't. Stop talking to me, stop following, in fact, forget about me, forget I exist, just leave me alone Y/N. Stop trying to butt in where you don't belong!" He burst out, my jaw clenched, and I felt like I was going to cry. "Stop acting like you're a lost puppy with nobody who loves her, you've got everyone in this town wrapped around your finger, you Rory both!" He shouted, that was my last straw. Tears were fighting to come out, but I couldn't cry, it would make me look weak.
"Fine, be like that," I spoke before walking home.

"He's a dick," Lorelai concluded.
"Lorelai! He's not a dick, he's just-"
"He's just a dick," She said. "Y/n, I know you really like him but honestly, any guy who does that to a girl, who plays with a girl's feelings like that, is a dick."
"Oh my god, can you stop saying dick?" Rory said. Lorelai laughed a bit before Rory started to speak again "I don't think he's a dick, I think he just really likes you and doesn't want to mess things up. He's trying to be careful, but he's also being really stupid. It happens in literally romance novel," She said, I sighed
"But that's the thing, this isn't a romance novel, it's real life. I mean, the way he was talking about me, what if just hates me? " I asked,
"Then you need to talk to him again and set the record straight," Lorelai said,
"But I can't, he won't talk to me even if it means he gets to live on his own without Luke or Liz bossing him around," I said,
"I'm sure he'll come around eventually," Rory spoke,
"I don't know if I even care anymore, why should I bother chasing him around if he's not gonna pay any mind to me?" I spoke
"He's paying a lot of mind to you if hes trying that hard to avoid you, trust me,"
