Wraith closed the door to her room and locked it. She leaned against it for a moment, letting out a silent sigh as she looked over to her bed to see Wattson facing the wall. She still seemed to be asleep. Wraith thought for a moment before taking her phone out of her pocket. Everyone needed to know as soon as possible about what was going on, but sending a message directly over the phone about it could cause some issues if the message were to get intercepted by the wrong person. Instead, she sent a group message out for an emergency meeting early tomorrow before the next match.
She looked at the time on her phone, it was almost midnight now. "I should probably try to relax a little." she thought to herself. She went to her bathroom to clean up and change. After a shower, she sat down in the small armchair and tried to get comfortable. The voices were so loud right now that she could barely concentrate on anything else.
'You're not safe here'
'Run!'
'Everyone is in danger'
'Don't just sit there'
'She needs you'
Wraith leaned forward and placed her head in her hands. "Just shut up." she said quietly to herself.
"Renee?" Wattson called out softly from the bed, still facing the wall. She still sounded exhausted.
The voices stopped instantly. Wraith shook her head slightly before standing up and walking over to the bed. She sat down on the edge and placed her hand on Wattson's arm. "Hey. I'm here, go back to sleep." she reassured her. Wattson scooted closer to the wall and pulled the covers up.
"Lay down." she said as she tapped on the bed, her back still turned towards Wraith.
Wraith couldn't say no to her, especially when she was like this. She got into the bed and put the covers over herself. Wattson immediately turned towards her and sank into her, nuzzling her face into Wraith's neck. Wraith froze.
"Got you." Wattson said with a soft giggle "Now you have to rest too."
Wraith let out a soft laugh and smiled. "Guess I'm trapped now, hu?" she said as she gently put her arms around Wattson. The Void was cold, even outside the Void Wraith could never really get warm. However, that wasn't the case anytime she was around Wattson.
She wrapped her arms a little tighter around the other woman, taking in her warmth. Not only could Wattson warm her up on the outside, but on the inside as well. She never felt alone or empty with Wattson, to her memory she had never felt like this with anyone else.
"Where did you go?" Wattson asked. "You were gone awhile."
"I went down to the lab, Dr. Somers was still there." Wraith replied.
"Oh...how is she?" Wattson asked, a worried tone in her voice.
"I would say just about as exhausted as you are. I can see why." Wraith felt Wattson nod and sigh. "Don't worry, I plan on warning the others tomorrow. We need to try our best to keep everyone safe. I'm still not cleared for another week to enter the games, so it's the least I can do." Wraith paused for a moment "Maybe I can convince Ajay to clear me with this new update."
Wattson shook her head "You're not ready yet. Ajay said one more week."
"Nat, I'm fine. I'm going to be more helpful inside the ring, I can't do anything from here." Wraith replied.
Wattson shook her head again "I don't want something bad to happen to you." she pushed herself away from Wraith, so that she could look her in the eyes "I need you here. If something were to happen to you because of the storm, because of me...I don't know what I'd do."
"Natalie, I'm not just going to sit by and watch while everyone is in danger. I'm especially not sitting back to watch something bad happen to you. I already want to kick down the doors of the Syndicate headquarters, it wouldn't take much more for that to happen."
Wattson placed her hand on Wraith's face and gently stroked her cheek. "Ne t'inquiète pas, mon fantôme. I can take care of myself. I know the ring like the back of my hand."
Wraith sighed "Natalie, I-" before Wraith could finish speaking, Wattson lips were gently touching hers. Wraith slowly leaned into the kiss, a flood of feelings and emotions she never remembered feeling before rushed through her.
Wattson slowly pulled away with a satisfied smile on her face. "Shush now." she said as she nuzzled back into Wraith's neck.
Wraith could feel her face turning red as she tried to process what just happened and the emotions she was feeling. After a moment she smiled as she tightened her arms around Wattson. "She really knows how to win an argument." she thought to herself.
—--
When Wraith woke up the next morning, Wattson was already gone. Wraith grabbed her phone to check the time, two hours until the match started. She sat up in bed and rubbed her eyes, she had actually gotten some sleep for once. She looked over to her nightstand to see a little Nessie sticky note. "Natalie." she said out loud to herself.
'Coffee is ready for you, ma chérie. - XOXO, W'
Wraith smiled to herself as she sat on the edge of her bed. "I really don't deserve her." she thought to herself as her smile faded away. She always said that she didn't fear anything, but deep down she was afraid of only one thing. That one thing was losing Wattson. The voices in her head didn't help with reassuring her otherwise. The loudest ones were always the most negative.
She shook the thoughts from her head as she made her way to the coffee pot in her kitchen. Today was going to be a long and stressful day.
