A thin layer of snow had blanketed the forest overnight. The frosty sheet damped all sound, the silence was broken only by a steady trodding of two pairs of boots. Loki was walking through the trees, map in hand and Apollo close on his heels. They left no trail, for Loki's powers of deception erased their footprints in the snow as they moved along.

Even wrapped in a cloak, Apollo shivered from the cold, though Loki seemed unaffected even as he had no protection aside from his usual clothes. Apollo exhaled a large cloud of steam, "How long will we be walking for?" he asked

"Just a while more," responded Loki, "It's worth the walk."

They stayed silent for the rest of the walk, with only the sound of snow giving way under their feet to reach their ears.

The sun climbed higher in the sky as they continued on, though it got no warmer. Finally, Loki stopped and Apollo looked up too see where they were.

A small building stood the the trees and snow, it looked ancient and as though none had entered it for many years.

"what is this place?" Apollo asked doubtfully.

"An old house." Loki replied, smirking.

Apollo breathed out a large cloud of steam and walked up to the door. He stared at it for a moment before pushing it open. The glow from his skin lit up the room and he drew a sharp breath. Loki was smiling behind him.

"It's cool isn't it?" Said Loki.

Apollo noded. The house was full of items from a time long past. "It's like a treasure vault!" Apollo exclaimed.

"Exactly, and we can take what we want." Loki walked around the room examining objects with the usual glint in his eye.

Apollo picked up a silver wristband that seemed to be glowing faintly. After turning it over in his hands he slipped it on his wrist. As he admired the way it shone it shrunk, tightening on his wrist. He tried to pull it off, but to no avail.

"Uh... Loki?" He said weakly

"Oh yes, some of this stuff is probably enchanted be careful." LOki turned to see the band that Apollo was wearing. "I hope you like that because it is never coming off."

Apollo sighed and continued to look around. There was a suit of armour standing in the corner, he put his hand on the chest plate and looked into it's eyes absentmindedly. He jumped back as the suit fell apart and crashed to the floor.

Loki glared at him, "Be careful."

Apollo nodded.

Loki held up a glove that looked as if it were weaved from gold thread, he pulled it on and held out his hand. A flame appeared above his palm and danced around his fingers. He smiled and dropped the glove into his bag.

Apollo noticed a silver orb on a table, he touched tentatively. when it did nothing he picked it up. It was lighter than it had looked so he tossed it in the air. It stopped at his eye level and stayed floating there. "Loki..."

The older boy glared at Apollo again, "What did you do now?" He noticed the floating orb. "Well... I think it likes you."

Apollo walked across the room, and the orb followed him. Then something started moving under a pile of gold coin in the corner, and two more orbs burst into the air. Now the three of them began orbiting Apollo. Loki laughed, "I'm sure the elders will approve of what you're bringing back."

Apollo had an annoyed look on his face, "I'm not touching anything else in here, I'll wait outside."

Loki smiled and continued collecting various items as well as silver and gold coins.

Apollo stopped at the door way, "how does that all fit in your bag?" It was just a small rectangular over-the-shoulder bag

"I found it in another one of these storage houses a few years ago."

"There are more of these places?" Apollo asked, surprised.

"Yup, This is one of the smaller ones, they appear and disappear all over the world. the bigger ones are guarded by monsters and have better stuff. I found this bag after killing a hydra."

Apollo shrugged and went outside. Loki took most of the items, leaving only what seemed useless. He did one last glance around the room, and looked at the suit of armour that had fell to the floor. He looked at it for a moment, then shrugged and stuffed the pieces into his bag.

"Ok are you ready?" Loki said as he stepped through the door. There was no response from Apollo. Loki looked around, the boy was gone. His eyes narrowed and he scanned the area, there was a series of footprints going off into the forest. The prints indicated that at least three people had been walking, and one of them was struggling.

Wonderful. he thought. The elders will kill me if I come back without him... He knew chasing after them would not be the best idea so he would do some research to find out where they'd gone. He sighed, and waved his hand at the house. The ground shook and the building began to sink into the ground.

"Don't worry kid, I'll find you." Loki looked into the sky. "Maybe I can find Hermes while I'm at it..."
