Aether returned to liyue after he was called back for something, Zhongil set up a meeting with Aether. Paimon was to focused on the food to pay attention to the twos conversation.

A: "You called me back for something important.. what is it?"

Z: "Well it's xiao, i havent seen him in weeks and he would usually check in himself, i dont really have the time to right now."

A: "And you want me to report back to see if hes doing okay?"

Z:"Yes and I understand if it isnt important bu-"

A: "No no I find this important, Xiao is very important to me." (☺️)

Z: "Alright, Well best you eat first then head on your way, after all your companion seems to be very hungry."

A: "Yeah shes always hungry.."

P: "Hey! paimon feels hurt!" (🙂)

~ At Wangshu Inn ~ (I'm lazy rn 😞😞)

P: "Xiaoooo!"

A: "I don't think he will answer to you paimon."

P: "Ugh! Fine you do it!" 😡😡

Xiao appeared.

P: "Why do you always answer him!?"

X: "Hmm.. what is it?"

A: "Zhongil wanted me to come check on you, you haven't seen him in weeks and neither has Zhongil."

X: "Im fine although..."

A: "What is it?"

X: "I don't ask this at all but... can you help me with something?"

P: "Oh great you too!"

X: "Quiet."

A: "So what do you need help with?"

X: "Sorry but you might be here for awhile.. but Hilicurls and other things, and I clear them up but it just takes a little while longer."

A: "I can help, I don't see why not."

~ A few weeks later ~
Aether had been helping Xiao for the past couple weeks, But he killed a lot of Hilicurls and other things.. All the mean while, Xiao was collecting more karmic debt by the days and ᏕᎧ ᏇᏗᏕ ᏗᏋᏖᏂᏋᏒ...
Xiao didnt Notice it at First until he noticed how Aether was getting weaker. He wasn't entirely non-human like but still was human.

X: "You okay? You seem weaker lately."

A: "I am weaker than usual."

X: "Maybe you should stay inside for awhile."

A: "No Im fine."

X: "if you say so I guess."

~ one of the nights ~
Xiao opened his eyes to see the realm his mind had always been stuck in, He looked to the side as he realized Aether was there..
He was there.. because of him.. and Aether as a 'mortal' couldn't handle the pain Xiao usually could handle.
Aether looked up into his eyes and Xiao could see the pain he was in. He broke his hand loose from one of the strings that had been pulling him back and tried to reach Aethers and Aether tired to reach him.
