Rashid was burning with anger. His face showed it, it was red. Clarion looked into his eyes and lied without any conscience. She watched his despair and did nothing about it.
"What are you doing?"
He went after Mal and found her sitting with her eyes closed.
"Meditating, Adam taught me, it's cool."
She replied. Ben's father had already returned to the camp, but she was still there meditating.
"Nice, but now I need you to come with me."
He was so nervous that he pulled the girl by the arm without further information.
"Hey, are you crazy? What are you thinking?" More nervous than Rashid, was Mal. She took the cat's hands off his arm. "I'm not going anywhere with you."
"Mal is serious. I need to get into Pixie Hollow, but only fairies get in there, and if you can't tell, I'm not one."
"And unless I have invisible wings, I'm not a fairy either."
"But your magic is." He took a breath; it was because of Mal that he was taking such a risk. "Look, if you want to know about your mother's past, you need to come. Do you want to understand once and for all why she is not capable of love?"
"She is evil, she has nothing to understand."
"Mal, your answers are at Pixie Hollow, if you want to go, I'll wait for you at the camp entrance. That decision will be yours."
He wanted to be calm, but he didn't know it and he didn't want to calm down now.
(...)
"What is there to know?"
The purple-haired girl was buried in doubt.
"Do you want this?"
Evie asked, and like her other friends hoped only to hear from her friend.
"Where is this place?"
"Is it far away?"
Jay and Carlos asked one after the other.
"I don't know! I don't know, okay?"
She went after them wanting advice no more questions.
"It's your decision, do you want to go?"
Evie asked, holding the girl's hands.
"Maybe?"
She answered doubtfully.
"But what is there to know about Maleficent's past?"
Jay questioned.
"There's a lot we don't know about our parents' past. Our relationship with them isn't exactly the best of all."
Evie said, thinking about Jay's line.
"And what will it change to know what made them become what they are?"
Carlos raised another question.
"You're not helping." Mal complained, bowing his head and mumbling something inaudible. "Hey, aren't you going to say anything else? - She called out to Ben, who had been quiet from the beginning."
"As Evie said, it's your decision, Mal."
The boyfriend replied, looking again into her eyes.
"But, I don't want it to be."
She huffed, pulling away from him.
"You know what I think?" Ben stepped closer. "You already know the answer."
"I just... nobody gets that mean without a good reason. She couldn't have been born that way, could she? See, I need you."
It was a conflict that Mal thought he had already solved. She would always have parental problems, but she hoped she would no longer suffer for them.
"Mal, Ben is right, you already know the answer."
Evie assured her, hugging her friend.
(...)
"Do you know how to get there?"
Mal asked the wizard who was waiting for her to teleport to the world above.
"That's it, girl!"
The Wonderland wizard jumped up and down happily.
"Good luck, come back soon."
Ben took her hands in his and kissed her quickly.
"Thanks, be safe."
She hugged her boyfriend as tightly as she could.
"Are you a fairy?"
Carlos asked curiously.
"As far as I know, no, but we'll see. Take care of him."
She asked her friends.
"Take care of him too."
Evie said.
"We'll be here waiting for you."
Jay warned. This was one of their promises, that they would always be there for each other.
"I know, I love you guys." She hugged her friends. Only they understood how complicated it was to mess with their troubled relationship with their parents. "Shall we go pumpkin head?" She took Rashid's hand and in seconds saw her friends and boyfriend turn into smoke. This was nothing new, teleporting with Rashid was becoming normal.
Pixie Hollow
What certainly surprised her Mal was the place that Rashid took them.
"Wow!" She was amazed by everything. The colors, the flowers, the animals, but mainly the fairies. She had never seen one and now she was seeing thousands. Fairies of all kinds flying and flying everywhere, but they stopped to watch her. "Why are they looking at us?"
"Option A, because of me, since I'm not a fairy, or it could be option B, you."
Rashid said low in fear of all those stares on them.
"Me?"
Mal asked surprised, for not even on the island did people look at her that way.
"Stay calm, if I'm right in three seconds the queen..."
"Rashid."
Before she finished speaking the fairy made of pure magic dust appeared right in front of her, shining as always and with a not very happy face.
"Hello Clarion."
He called her by name, which shocked the fairies present.
"Turned away from the fairies' entrance."
Differently from how she always was, the queen had a frown on her face.
"In fact, I entered as a fairy, or rather with a half-fairy."
He said, pointing to the girl with the purple hair that the queen had not noticed until that moment. When Clarion saw her he wished that Rashid had violated the fairy entrance, internally asked her to be anything except Mal.
