Carmen and Shawn were greeted by the cool December air as they walked out of a restaurant named Mariposa. The young couple had just finished having dinner. Today was a special day for them it was their one-year anniversary.
" That food was so good." Carmen spoke.
"I know right we have to come back soon." Shawn replied.

The two of them approached Shawn's 2011 black Dodge Charger. Shawn quickly walked over to the passenger side of the car and opened the door for Carmen.
He watched as she got inside before closing the door. He made his way to the driver's side and got in.
As Carmen put on her seatbelt her phone vibrated in her coat pocket. She dug into her coat pocket and grabbed her phone noticing that she had a message from her mom.
Mama 💕 ~ I know that you're out with Shawn but you need to be returning home soon. You have school in the morning... 9:28 pm
"So my parents aren't gonna be home for like another hour. Do you wanna chill at my place ?" Shawn asked as he put on his seatbelt.
Carmen looked away from her phone and at Shawn, "As much as I would like to I can't." She sighed. " My mom is wanting me to come home."
" Okay no problem." He replied.
Shawn started the ignition of his car and put the car in drive before taking off.
" I can't believe in two weeks we're gonna be graduating high school. Have you thought about what you're gonna do afterwards ?" Carmen asked.
" Uh, nah not really have you ?" Shawn replied as he focused on a traffic light that was approaching.
" Yeah, I wanna follow in my mother's footsteps and become a hairstylist." Carmen answered.
