I sat in my my sofa with the trustworthy cup of tea, writing my master's degree in history. It was rainy outside, just how I like it. I hate Wednesdays however, I'm not sure why, I just don't. As I sat here sipping on my tea, I suddenly got this weird feeling, a physical one mind you. Following it was a brigt light coming from just beside the sofa. A sound simmilar to an aeroplane engine followed as the light illuminated my apartment to brightness I didn't know possible, and following what sounded like two gunshots the light and sound suddenly halted.
My ears rang, like that beeping noise you hear in movies after a bomb went off. Also my eyes hurt, unsuprisingly. As my vision returned, I was shocked at the sight of a man, however this man looked very dead, mainly due to the fact that my bookshelf was now painted a pleasant red as well as the back of his head, and face. He was halfways sitting against my bookshelf on the floor with his head looking down. One of the loud bangs must have been a gunshot, the one that killed this man. Great deduction skills, I know. 'What the fuck?' I thought to myself, but before I got any further, the man, as well as all the blood blurred out and was gone. The blood mind you, the man was still there. He then got up on his legs and looked at me, I looked back.
He had light grey, or maybe very light blue eyes, about 6 feet tall. He looked about thirty five, and had black with some grey hairs. He was also wearing a military uniform, nicely decorated. Reminded me of the uniform the German Wehrmacht officers used, however I could see it wasnt. After about a minute of staring his face showed some sort of life and he held out his hand. "Ich bin Viktor." He said and looked at his hand, indicating I shake it.
I hadnt really taken in how surreal this is, but I shook his hand and said; "I'm Caroline, I don't speak German." He looked suprized and then had a peek around the room before asking: "Spetz?" "What?" "Your last name. Spetz?" Viktor turned around and headed for the window in the kitchen, I noticed some odd metal contraption on his left shoulder. "Eh, no. Why?" I followed him. "Okay it's not important then." He looked out the window and then at me. "Where are we?" What the hell do I awnser to that? "Boston, Massachusetts, USA, American Continent, Terra..." "Okay that's enough." He said. "Hold on. Why aren't you in shock yet? You haven't even questioned anything that just happened." Come to think of it he was right. Well, he's Viktor. The man that was dead about two minutes ago, appeared in my apartment through some light, wearing an unidentifiable uniform. Without anything logical to say or ask I did the only thing I know with company. "Do you wish for some coffee?"
The coffeemaking went awfully silent, with my visitor now sitting on one side of the kitchen island, looking at me as I worked the coffee machine. I gave Viktor black coffee. He seemed like a black coffee guy. He took a sip of it, the fact that it was boiling hot didn't seem to bother him, as he took quite a large one. "Does the word Djupinia sound familliar to you?" He asked. I thought for a second, never heard it before, but it sounded like a country. "No." I said and took a sip of my latté. "Date and year?" "15th of October 2014." "Same as us then." He drank up his coffee and thought for a second. "We need to get going."
"Wait, wait, wait." I said slightly annoyed. "I don't know who you are, where you are from, what you are, how you got here, and why. So, please. I'm all ears." He looked at me as I took an agressive sip latté. "My full name is Viktor Freiherr von Richthofen. I'm the leader of scientific advancement in Djupinia." "So you're a pretty important person?" He smiles. "Yes, yes I am."
"I need someone who knows this timeline. If you help me you'll be greatly rewarded. "Sounds good!" I said thinking about the action I may experience. Death seems to be a card in this deck however, but I'm willing to take that risk. "Pack lightly. You will never see this place again." I smile at the thought.
