Chapter 8
::Dream::
There were two sides, separated by some sort of invisible line. On one side, it had my friends and grandpa. They were smiling at me, beckoning me to come over and grandpa had a warm look in his eyes.
But on the other side, my grandpa was there too. Only, he was younger. And with him, stood his friends. In his eyes, was a hard look, full of determination.
And in the middle, there I stood. With one foot planted in each world. I wanted to go back to my friends. And grandpa.
But my instincts were whispering frantically in my mind, telling me not to go.
"Choose." A deep voice whispered in my head. "Where do you want to be?"
Choose? I... can choose?
"Don't go back!" A snapped my head to the side. The younger version of my grandpa snapped.
I shut my eyes. I wanted to go back home. But... even so, why did It feel so wrong to choose the obvious choice?
I put my head between my hands. Why am I the only one who has to go through this?!
Suddenly, the world around me started melting away.
"The path you walk is different from what you think." My younger grandpa spoke.
Moments later, the world completely vanished and I was left alone in the dark.
::End::
My waking was a miserable experience for me. Firstly, the light seemed the sear through my corneas, which forced me to use my hand to cover them.
Secondly, my upper chest (NO HENTAI!!!!) seemed to throb painfully.
Anyway, after the ridiculously bright lights seemed to die down, I removed my hand and blinked a few times.
I was laying down in a futon, and I appeared to be in a hut.
I never liked houses because I always felt confined in one so I immediately sat up, causing a hiss of pain to rip through my throat unintentionally.
The mat thing in front of the door was pushed aside and a girl with dark black hair entered.
"Oh! You're awake!" She exclaimed, smiling warmly at me.
I don't know why, but I feel as if I should know her.
She carefully helped me sit up in such a way that the wound on my chest wouldn't bother me. Surprisingly, I usually have a high tolerance to pain. But, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. My pain tolerance level goes down drastically after I... turn.
"Che, you don't have to help me. I heal faster then normal-."
She cut me off. "Then normal people? I've heard that phrase said by InuYasha." She giggled.
I was about to say something else when the mat hanging in front of the door was roughly pushed aside and my, um, grandfather entered.
He had a few fresh bruises on his face, obviously from my, 'giving him a through beat down' session.
He crouched down in front of me and spoke and a low voice.
"What did Naraku mean?"
"A- about what?" I stammered, my eyes darting to the side.
"You know what! What did Naraku mean by you being my..." InuYasha trailed off, obviously not wanting to say the word.
My ears flattened against my head. "I'm not sure either." I lied through my teeth.
InuYasha growled. "Don't lie!"
"InuYasha, sit." Kagome said with a tick Mark on her head.
InuYasha immediately faceplanted.
"Why are you interrogating her like that?! She's only a kid!" Kagome reprimanded InuYasha while he tried to climb out of the hole.
Kagome sat down next to me again.
"It's funny you know. My grandpa used to get sit-ed by a priestess too." Kagome and InuYasha froze.
"What?" I asked.
"Are you... from the future?" Kagome asked softly.
I sweatdropped at how easily I was found out.
I said nothing and so Kagome took it as a yes.
"You could have told me. I travel through time as well."
"You don't get it!" I snapped. "I'm not in the same situation you're in! You go back 500 years while I went through 300 years into my future, and then crossed over to your time! And... your existence isn't at risk by being here! You won't come across anyone like your grandparents! If I screw up, I'll never be born!" I let off some steam by ranting all that out.
Kagome patiently waited for me to finish before asking. "So, InuYasha is your grandfather in the future?"
I nodded and took out a small photograph. For my time, it was already 300 years old and the photograph was already fading.
In the picture, you could easily see to people in it. One was me, and the other was...
"What the hell?!" InuYasha snarled, grabbing the photo. There, smiling a bit back at InuYasha, was the same face as his, only he looked older.
"That enough proof for ya?" I asked, raising a eyebrow.
"Your name, it's Nekota right?" Kagome asked. I nodded. "Ok, Nekota, if InuYasha's your grandfather, whose your grandmother?" Kagome's eyes held hope and interest in them. I could see that InuYasha was interested as well.
My ears dropped again. "I can't tell you that. If I do, this stubborn fool of my younger grandfather might just mess up my timeline. No thank you! I rather keep existing. Besides, I need to settle a score with a certain bastard who happened to curse me and is the reason I'm here!"
"You've been cursed?" Kagome asked.
I nodded. "If I take off this pendant, I'll turn into a full demon. And if it gets corrupted," I turned to look at InuYasha. "Well, you've already experienced that."
"So, I'm gonna kill that bastard Naraku, slowly and painfully!" I had already started shaking in anger.
I calmed down a few moments later.
"Hey I know! Why don't you join us?" Kagome suggested, smiling brightly.
"No-" InuYasha started to say but was cut of by Kagome saying, "Sit!"
I'll just say that must have painful.
"I could but..." I trailed off, looking at the face planted InuYasha.
"Never mind InuYasha! Besides, it'll be cool to have a equal number of girls and boys in the team!" Kagome said excitedly.
I nodded then.
I was excited, I was going to join my grandfather- even if he isn't right now- to defeat Naraku!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Hey people! I wrote this chapter as fast as I could do, sorry if it's not up to standard.
I know one of you people were asking who Nekota's grandmother was but, I can't tell any of you peeps until near the end. So, I'll just leave you to guess who InuYasha will end up with. The only clue I'll give is that InuYasha will end up with either Kagome or Kikyo.
So guess away!
Bye!
