Tiana let herself into the Dunphy house, as she usually did, to find Haley, Luke, Manny, Phil and Claire all in the kitchen. Manny was staying with them for a bit while Jay and Gloria were on vacation in Mexico.

She walked into the kitchen mid-conversation. "I still don't get why you passed up a free trip," Luke said.

"Because they're meeting twenty-three Colombians who call my mom 'la tranquila', the quiet one. Hey, Tia." Manny said.

"Morning, guys."

Tiana stood next to Luke as Manny played the video that Jay and Gloria had sent from Mexico.

"Hola, familia! Happy Thanksgiving!" Gloria's loud voice sounded from the laptop, "And happy birthday tomorrow, Luke!"

"Yeah, Luke, we didn't forget about you, we got you a great present here in Mexico," Jay said, "See you when we get back! Bye, bye bye! See you soon!"

Tiana was sat at the kitchen island, watching Luke prepare some of the food when the power went out. She insto i rely grabbed Luke's arm, letting go almost as quick as she'd grabbed him.

They decided to move the party to Jay and Gloria's house, which was bigger anyway. Tiana sat down on the couch in the living room, next to Manny.

"So, you like a man who cooks, huh?" Manny asked.

Tiana whipped her head around to face the boy. "Manny, it's not-"

"Like that? Sure it's not, Tia. I've seen the way you look at him, as if he's the greatest thing to grace planet earth."

"He's my best friend."

"Friends don't look at friends like that."

Tiana let out a sigh. It'd feel good to get it off her chest, and Manny wouldn't blab. She looked around to make sure no one else was there to hear.

"Fine," she said, "Fine, I like him. Now what?"

"You do? I was actually just going out on a whim there. I could tell by your aura that you were experiencing romantic attraction, but I didn't know to who, so I used Luke as a decoy. I thought you'd be so desperate to deny it that you told me your actual crush, but here we are."

"Jesus, you're a freak."

"Why Luke?"

The two looked into the kitchen for a brief moment to see Luke and Phil stressing about something, running around the kitchen like a pair of madmen.

"Jesus. I don't know. He's kind of a moron. But he's so sweet, and charming in his own way. He's so protective of me, too. There are things I've told him that I wouldn't dream about telling anyone else. And those arms. That hair. God, that face."

"Sounds like more than a crush."

"Don't get it twisted, Manny. I like him, I think he's cute. I'm not about fall in love. I'm just... pining."
