                        August 22 - 9:20 PM
                                 The attack

It was silent for a while as we waited for the others to return. When minutes passed and nobody spoke, Dylan finally broke the silence, a new beer in his hand.

"That was some mighty fine social disruption there Kaitlyn."

Kaitlyn looked over at him with a mischievous smile. "Ah or was it just the push Abi needed?"

Ryan spoke with a small scoff. "You're an evil genius."

I didn't look at Dylan when he spoke, my eyes falling onto the dying fire in front of us. "Who do you think is gonna make the first move? Nick or Abi?"

Kaitlyn answered confidently. "Ooo good Q, my bets on neither."

Ryan however, sounded more unsure. "Yeah, I don't know. Nick's got the beast in him."

The girl scoffed, clearly disagreeing. "If by beast you mean some sort of mild mannered baby deer."

"Hey, don't let that preppy aesthetic fool you. It's like steel barbeque grills under that shirt!"

I looked at Ryan, finally joining the conversation. "Yeah, you noticed that too?"

Dylan gave me a surprised look. "Does that mean you've checked Nick out before? I didn't think he was your type."

I looked at him and shrugged. "I mean, he's helped out with the swim class before and most of the girls in that group were drooling over him. I couldn't exactly go through the whole hour without looking at him at least once. And sometimes..you know.. eyes wander."

Kaitlyn faked a shocked tone and I looked over at her. "Zoey! I had no idea you were such a pervert!"

I felt a little embarrassed with everyone looking at me. "W-what? I'm not! Especially not for Nick, like Dylan said, he's not my type! I was just..caught off guard by what he was hiding."

I heard Dylan let out a small, low laugh as he took a drink from his bottle and looked back down at the fire, hoping this part of the conversation would come to an end before things got any more embarrassing.
Luckily, it did and kaitlyn changed the subject after a short silence. "So, what do you guys want to do now, while we wait?"

My eyes flickered up to Ryan when he responded. "We can keep playing truth or dare? Pretty sure Zoey and Dylan never got called on."
Dylan didn't seem against the idea, nodding slightly. "Yeah, just the four of us? Sure, why not?"

With everyone agreeing to continue the game, Ryan leaned forward and started to ask Dylan the question but was stopped when we heard a distant scream.
I quickly stood up and looked in the direction it came from, Immediately on my guard. The others stood up too and Dylan recognized the voice. "That sounded like Abi."

Ryan spoke in a serious voice, looking at the group. "We gotta help her!"
Kaitlyn started looking around at the forest surrounding us. "Wait, where did it come from?"
Ryan joined her in looking around for a moment before starting to jog away. "This way, cmon."

Out of habit I found myself staying close to Dylan, who stayed near the fire. My eyes searched around for any sign of movement. When I realized I was cowering like a child with a guy who had just admitted to only seeing me as a summer friend, I quickly started walking away to catch up with the other two.
The three of us came to a sudden stop when Abi ran out of the woods with dark red blood all over her hands and shirt.
