Chapter 2
As Marcus delved deeper, he found out that Olivia had a history of embezzlement. She had been fired from her previous job for stealing from her employer. Marcus knew he had to confront her.
He called Olivia to his office and started questioning her. She denied having anything to do with Sophia's disappearance but Marcus could sense that she was lying. He decided to take a more aggressive approach.
"Olivia, I know you're lying to me. Tell me what happened to Sophia or you'll regret it," Marcus said, his voice stern.
Olivia broke down and confessed. She had been paid by Sophia's family to get rid of her. They had grown tired of her independent streak and wanted to gain control of her wealth. Olivia had initially refused, but the family had threatened her and her family's safety. She had no choice but to comply.
