Ginny's P.O.V
I couldn't focus in class. My mind kept wandering to Eva Potter, Harry's twin sister. "Weasley! Pay attention!" Professor Snape barked, snapping me out of my daydream. I paid attention for the rest of my Defense Against the Dark Arts class, since I didn't want to upset Snape more than I already had. After class, I wasn't really paying attention to where I was going, and I nearly walked right into someone. "Sorry," I said, trying to continue on my way. "Hey Ginny. I didn't notice that you were coming," I heard an all-too-familiar voice say. "Hi Eva. I don't want to make you late for class," I said. "Don't worry about it. I've got a free period right now anyway. Let me guess, you were daydreaming in Snape's class again, weren't you?" She asked me knowingly. Damn this girl for knowing me so well! "Yeah, I was. He makes class so boring. I wish we had a more fun teacher for Defense Against the Dark Arts," I said bitterly. "So do I, but look at it this way: he's better than old Toad-face, right?" She asked, referring to Snape's predecessor, Professor Umbridge. "Yeah, he's got that going for him. Hey, do you want to hang out in Hogsmeade this weekend?" I asked her. "Sure. I'm sure Harry and the others will appreciate the company. The more the merrier," Eva replied. "Um... I was kinda hoping that... maybe we could spend some time together, just the two of us," I said, inwardly cursing myself for deciding to try to ask her out. "Sure, if we have the chance," she said. "I think we both know that we're not going to get that chance, so just... forget that I brought it up, okay?" I asked her. "Ginny, if you want to spend some time alone with me in Hogsmeade, I'm sure we can find a way to do it," she said, but I shook my head. "There's no way of guaranteeing that Ron won't follow us to keep an eye on me. You know how he gets when I'm alone with a girl. Hell, if it wasn't for the steps turning into a slide whenever a boy tries to enter the girls dorm, he'd probably insist on sleeping in there simply to keep an eye on me," I said. "Gin, you're being paranoid. I'm his best friend, and you're his sister. I'm sure that he knows that we won't hook up or anything," she said, and I felt my heart sink into my stomach. "Yeah... I guess you're right," I said, even though I didn't want to. I made to keep going, but Eva stopped me again. "Let's talk some more in our dorm, okay?" She asked. "Fine," I replied, and she released me from her grip. I made my way to my next class, trying to keep Eva and her words out of my head so I could pay attention.
Evangeline's P.O.V
At dinner, Ginny sat as far away from me as she could while still being around our group of friends. I tried to talk to her, but she ignored everything I had to say. I decided to give up and focus on my food instead, refusing to speak to anyone for the rest of the meal. I was the first to leave for Gryffindor Tower after dinner, and so I was also the first to arrive. After giving the password to the portrait of the Fat Lady, I went straight to the girls dormitory, where I sat down on my bed, wishing I knew what I had said to upset Ginny. I didn't move until Hermione came to check on me. "Eva, what's on your mind?" She asked kindly. "I just want to know what I did to upset Ginny," I said angrily. "I can't help you there. You'll have to talk to her about it," Hermione said. "That's the problem, she hasn't spoken to me since she nearly collided with me after her Defense Against the Dark Arts class," I replied. "Let me see what I can do to get her to talk to you, okay?" Hermione said. "I'd appreciate that, 'Mione," I said. "Okay. I'll tell her that you want to talk to her," she said, getting up and leaving the dormitory.
Ginny's P.O.V
"Ginny, I just want you to know that Eva wants to talk to you," Hermione said. "Good for her. I don't feel like talking to her," I replied icily. "She feels bad about whatever she said to upset you earlier, and she wants to apologize for it," Hermione persisted. "I really don't like it when you get persistent about stuff with me, you know," I said. "Yes, I'm well aware of that, but I'm not letting it go until you go talk to her," she said, and I huffed. "Fine! I'll go and talk to her if it'll get you to shut up about it!" I said, storming off to the girls dormitory. When I made eye contact with Eva, she looked scared, which took a lot of the edge off of my anger. I didn't want her to be scared of me. "I hear you want to talk to me," I said softly. "Yeah. Look, whatever I said to upset you, I'm sorry for it, okay? I didn't mean it," she said. "I get it, and I'm sorry too. For ignoring you for the rest of the day, I mean. It was really childish and immature of me," I said, "Honestly, I was upset that you said that we wouldn't hook up or anything." "Gin, I said that Ron knows we wouldn't hook up or anything. Honestly, I'd love to hook up with you, I just don't know how we'd keep it a secret," she said, and my eyes widened. "Are you saying that you want to be with me?" I asked her. "Yeah. If you want to be with me, that is," she said. "You're sure about that?" I asked her. "Yes, of course I am. Gin, you are beautiful and funny and kind and fierce. I've always admired you for that. I know that you feel like I'm out of your league, but believe me when I say that I'm totally in your league," she said with a smile. "Thanks. I could say the same about you," I replied, returning her smile. "Come on, gimme a hug," Eva said, pulling me into an embrace. I felt happy, knowing that I had a chance with the girl that I had liked since I was ten, when I first met her at King's Cross Station.
