Ten

Eira sat in the couch by the fireplace and closed her ears while repeating the phrases. Alice sat beside her muttering something insanely. Teddy sat down beside them and asked "So, which exam is tomorrow?" Eira showed her textbook while still revising. He aahed and said "Potions. Its best to get it over with. Half of the headache is gone."

Alice nodded and said "Yes , yes but Professor Clemont needs perfection as you already know. He would not accept even a silly mistake. Merlin, I wish Professor Slughorn instead taught us." Teddy rolled his eyes and said "From what I have heard he has expired last year so no chance."

Eira stilled and looked at him and asked "Expired?" Teddy nodded and she furrowed her brows saying "But my parents just visited him last week. They had said in the letter." Teddy said "That's his son. The Slughorn who taught our parents expired." Making a O with her mouth, she went back to studying.

Patting them both on their heads he got up and said "Good luck on your exams." They muttered thanks and returned to their books. That night Eira got up twice thinking she had forgotten to read something when infact she had read them.

The next day was a nervous wreck for all the first years. It was their Potions finals and many paced in front of the great hall muttering. James and Fred shifted from foot to foot uneasily glancing at the Great hall. Finally the doors opened and they went inside. A soon as she saw the Paper Eira calmed down.

She knew all these. She started writing confidently and did not glance up until she finished the paper. And that was until the bell rang and exam time was over. Everyone spilled out and James groaned "I didn't remember on time that aconite and Wolfsbane are same. How daft am I?"

Fred replied "Very much so ." James glared at him and humphed. Eira didn't bother to hide her grin and he directed the glare at her and Alice who was outright laughing. They went to Hagrid's Hut while Fred continued teasing James.

Hagrid welcomed them cheerfully and set rockcakes on their plates and offered them tea while enquiring about their exam. They just had one more left and then they would be free to go back to their homes. Eira laughed at James when Hagrid teased him along with Fred and James tried to pout.

His face was hilarious. They went back to their dorms to continue studying for the last exam. When they seperated ,she heard James saying "You just wait Freddy, I will have my revenge." She didn't hear Fred's reply as Alice pulled her along to the dorms.

The next day they finished their Herbology exam, the final one and whooped with joy. The packing of trunks was done, slowly dorms became empty and they were already on the train, all four in one compartment.

James grinned while waving his card and said "Eira, you have to come to my house this summer, Alice and Fred will anyway be there. It will be fun and you will get to meet my fun family. There is also a summer party we usually host for friends and you are completely welcome."

Eira tried denying but he didn't take no for an answer and after getting down on the platform he dragged his mother to her parents and asked for their permission to send her in the last week of summer. They agreed,happy that she has such good friends and that she will be happy. She beamed up at them as they said "Come ,let's go home."
