Chrissy had been checking the wound on Scar. It looked more than a month old.

She would have to ask the older one about it later.

She had asked, Reah and Rain to go wash themselves in the river they had fished from and fetch water so she could clean Scar.

The boy was seaping in and out of consciousness... it wasn't good. One would mistake it for sleeping but....Chrissy knew better.

She would wait for Ace to return from wherever it was he had gone, then she would wash down and they would leave.

She didn't have to wait long, she could sniff him approaching. She removed Scar from herself and stood up.

The morning breeze was warm. A few birds were chirping loudly in the distance.

When she raised her head, she was met with  the broad chest of her mate.

"Got you something." He said tenderly to her I  his thick voice. "You can shift and then eat." Chrissy nodded and complied.

She couldn't look him in the face.... there were worms moving around in her stomach. Big worms. When a wolf hunts for his mate, it's a sign of great love and respect. He loves her?

She shifted and ate her share. She didn't even notice that Reah and Rain had returned with the water. When she was done, Ace ate his fill and then ask the others to do so.

He went back in the shed with Chrissy so the rest could finish it up but when he came back they were still standing where he left them.... each one of them.

"What are you waiting for?" He asked. "Eat up" He instructed them.

They all looked up at him blankly, still oblivious to the fact that he couldn't see them.

"I can't shift yet. "  Rain said shyly. "Neither can Scar.,"

"And the rest of you?" He folded his arms.

Reah was next in replying...."we can't shift either."

"Take of your clothes."

Cage opened his eyes so wide they could burst. "What?" His scream was cut with a growl from Ace.

Within the blink of an eye all four of them were nude.

"SHIFT!" Ace gave the Alpha
Command his father had once given him so long ago.

The force and energy he used was enough to scare any living creature within their parameter away. It also brought all four of them to their knees. "SHIFT!" He said again, this time allowing his wolf to make his presence known.

Bones start to break. Then an agonising scream was heard.

It seemed the command had affected the  dying one too.  The Alpha in him wanted to get rid of that one.... but his mate would be displeased. He moved closer to him and gave the command to stop shifting.

Turning back to the others, his wolf sensed something was off.

The little girl was turning smoothly, but the others where having a hard time. Two seamed to be stuck in transition and the older one - Cage, was it?-was phasing in and out.

Ace shifted into his wolf and walked up to a whimpering Rain. Her wolf was gray. He nudged her up to her feet. Helping her stand on all four.

Walking to the others. He gave a bark to the quiet one, and immediately, his shift completed. He was also a gray one.

Then he walked up to Reah and did the same. Easy shift. Her wolf was black, she was probably from his pack.

The only one left was Cage, he wasn't stuck but phasing in and out. He seemed in great pain.

Ace growled at him. And circled him. With one motion he jumped on him and pushed him flat onto the ground and then gave a bark.

That seemed to have done the trick. The boy had shifted. His was black with brown linings.
He helped all of them  stand up straight and watched as they went to eat.

Once done, they all stayed in their wolf form and waited for Chrissy to  pack all their belongings and strap them onto their wolfs.

Chrissy watched as a small gray wolf tried to lift up Scar.

"No no!" Chrissy wiggled her finger at her. "Let someone else."

A blackish brown wolf volunteered himself, by his size, it should be Cage.
She helped him carry the boy.
Then she placed their bags on the rest.

They had water and weapons.

Chrissy only shifted when she was sure that they had everything.

Then they left.

The walk was long. Sometimes they run, feeling the breeze in their fur. All except Cage, since he had Scar. It was their first shift, of course they would be ecstatic.

When they had tired themselves out, Rain whined and whimpered to be carried until Ace gave in.

His wolf wasn't used to having others around him....but the urge to kill everyone was fading slowly.

The mute one seemed to be attached to him. His wolf could tolerate that, it showed that he was a leader....as long as he continuedto be mute.

On day 2, they were all exhausted and decided to take a break.

Reah found a cave. Her scouting was good. With a little training she could be exemplary in tracking.

All except for Ace shifted back and changed and almost fell asleep within seconds.

They continued this pattern for two days. Hunting when they needed to.

Whenever he needed a rest.... he would wake Cage up.

In three days, they would be in ClawCrest.

There was nothing to be anxious about. Why was she even nervous. What could have changed in a week?

She tried not to remember the embarrassment she had felt during the festival when Lawren enter looking triumphant.

As they took their time to walk, she now had time to reflex on everything. At that time, the only important thing to her was her mate, now she had to face the pack again.

Her thinking was interrupted by loud growls. She looked up to see that Ace was growling at something in the distance, and Rain's small wolf was hiding behind him.

They had all stopped as the air had suddenly become tense.

Cage moved closer to her, she assumed it was to pass over Scar.

She stood still as the boy did his best to move onto her.

Reah was at Ace's right, not completely behind him , the mute stood beside her so Cage took Ace's right while Chrissy called Rain to her.

There was no official initiation ceremony for them so they couldn't mind link.

Just then, Chrissy remembered something she had read in pack history.
If Ace's blood was not in the sacred bowl in a month, he'd loose his mind link with the pack.

Chrissy looked up to see that the intruder had made themselves known and was growling back at Ace.

Was Ace not releasing his Alpha aura?

The rouge wolf lounged at her mate and he went straight for the neck, aiming for the kill, and then he stopped.

Why did he stop?

His wolf nudged the nose of the rouge. In a friendly banter sort of way.

And helped it to it's feet. A low growl still resonating from him

They all watched as the rouge wolf jumped around Ace,dancing, barking at him all the while.
