The last 100 days of high school are starting today. There's a party tonight and I invited half of the class over to my house. They stayed with me for a couple of hours, we had a few drinks and we left for the party.

Ryan and Owen wouldn't leave my side for a second. We were dancing and having fun. After two hours, I look around because I want to ask Ryan something, but he's nowhere to be found. All of a sudden, some guy I barely know comes up to me and says: "Ryan's talking to his ex Maxine outside."

I can't believe what I'm hearing and suddenly I start to wonder how long he'd been gone for. A lot can happen in thirty minutes. I feel the panic coming over me, but I try to calm myself down.

Maxine and Ryan did not end on the best terms. She's quite a bitch actually and I never liked her. I do pretend to like her, because she tells me things that way. They haven't talked properly about what happened for 2 years. Sometimes they just text for a few weeks and then go back to being strangers. Deep down I always knew they didn't let go of eachother yet.

I need some fresh air, so I go outside for a while with Isobel, she's my best friend and she knows about Ryan and me. As soon as I look to the left, I see Maxine hugging Ryan and I immediately regret coming outside. As I want to turn away, he looks me in the eye with an "I'm sorry"-glance.

I walk away, because I don't want to get hurt any more than I already am. I'm not even back inside for 10 seconds and he's already behind me. "McKayla, please. I need to talk to you." I just stare at him, not knowing what to say and even if I did know, I would not be able to produce words right now. "I swear nothing happened, I would never do anything with another girl while I'm with you. Not even with her." I stare at him in disbelief and suddenly the rage is bigger than my unability to talk, so I start yelling at him: "You are not WITH me. We have sex every now and then but you made it pretty clear last time that we were going absolutely nowhere with this. So if you want to go kiss your ex, please go ahead. I will not be bothered, because last time I checked, you weren't my boyfriend."

I am a little surprised of how bitter that sounded, and apparently he is too. He just says nothing anymore but he hugs me tighter than ever before. He whispers in my ear: "I have a conversation to finish. Give me half an hour and I will be back to talk to you."
