Albert was still reeling from the loss of Drake when a new neighbor moved in next door. Her name was Ari, and she was a young blond teenage girl. Albert didn't think much of her at first, but Sara was immediately drawn to her youthful energy and eager curiosity.
As they got to know each other, Albert began to see that Ari was more than just a teenager. She was intelligent, kind, and surprisingly mature for her age. She had a natural curiosity about the world and a deep empathy for others.
Despite his reservations, Albert found himself drawn to Ari as well. She reminded him of a younger version of Sara, before the weight of their dynamic had taken its toll. He found himself enjoying her company, and he was pleased to see that she seemed to enjoy his as well.
One day, as they were sitting in Albert and Sara's backyard, Ari brought up the topic of relationships. "I don't really understand why people get so hung up on labels," she said. "Why does it matter if you're in a throuple or a couple or whatever? Isn't it just about being with the people you love?"
Sara and Albert looked at each other, surprised by Ari's insight. "You're right," Sara said. "It's not about the label, it's about the love. We were in a throuple because we love each other and want to be together."
Ari smiled. "That's what I thought. I don't really care what people call it, as long as you're happy."
Over the next few weeks, Ari became a regular fixture in Albert and Sara's life. She would come over to hang out and talk, and they would often invite her to dinner or movie nights. Albert found that he enjoyed her company more and more, and he was pleased to see that Sara felt the same way.
One evening, as they were all sitting on the couch watching a movie, Ari leaned over and whispered something in Albert's ear. He turned to her, surprised, and saw a mischievous glint in her eye. "Do you trust me?" she asked.
Albert hesitated for a moment, unsure of what she meant. But then he nodded. "Yes, I trust you."
Ari smiled and turned to Sara. "Do you trust me too?"
Sara nodded, a curious look on her face. "Of course."
Ari stood up and took Albert and Sara's hands, pulling them up with her. "Come on," she said. "I want to show you something."
She led them outside and down the street to a small park. In the center of the park was a large tree with a thick trunk and spreading branches. Ari gestured to the tree. "Climb it," she said.
Albert and Sara looked at each other, unsure. They hadn't climbed a tree since they were children. But there was something about Ari's excitement that made them want to try.
They started to climb, feeling the rough bark under their hands and the sway of the branches under their feet. As they climbed higher, the world around them began to fall away, until it was just the three of them and the tree.
When they reached the top, Ari was waiting for them with a grin on her face. "See?" she said. "Sometimes you just have to take a risk and see where it takes you."
Albert and Sara looked at each other, a shared sense of joy and exhilaration in their eyes. They realized that Ari was more than just a new neighbor, she was a new friend, and they were grateful for the unexpected adventure she had brought into their lives.
