Later on back at the party I was sitting out on the back porch, sipping from a can of some drink Anna had offered me. I pulled out my phone and took a look at the notifications. Pedro had messaged me soon after seeing us at the store.

Pedro: Hey. Are you okay? Why haven't you answered my calls?
I typed back. 👍🏽 Yes better than ever thanks

A minute later my phone buzzed with his reply.

Pedro: Can I please see you now?

I rolled my eyes and ignored the message. I stood up and milled around until I found Ness and Luke doing shots in the kitchen.

"Ally," Luke said with a bit of a tipsy slur. "You gotta do this shot game with us." Ness nodded in agreement.

"Alright, alright, I will," I accepted. For the next hour I hung out with Ness and Luke and a few others. I was sensible enough not too get too drunk but I was enjoying my time at the party, surrounded by others I leaned against Luke and put an arm around him.

"You're the best," I mumbled. Mark came up and stole a shot from Ness's hand. Ness smacked his back playfully.

"No, I'm the best." Mark downed the shot. Luke leaned his head against mine.

Anna walked into the kitchen area. "Ally," she called out. "Ally!"

"I'm right here," I laughed. "Stop yelling."

"Oh, hey," she slurred and laughed at herself. "Uhm, Pedro is here looking for you."

My heart skipped a beat and I frowned.

"What does he want?" Mark asked.

"He loves Ally." Ness giggled. I shot her an unamused look.

"Oh, he's so lovely," gushed Anna. "He's like, so sweet and fatherly."

Suddenly Pedro entered the kitchen through the side door. He stood there and a frown fell on his face when he saw me. His expression was serious, even angry. His eyes narrowed on me and he cleared his throat.

"Alessandra, can I talk to you for a minute?" He said. I let go of Luke and sighed.

"Oh, you're in trouble," Ness laughed. "He's acting like a school principal." Anna burst out giggling.

"Everything okay?" Luke asked me. I nodded.

Pedro glared until I walked with him out to the back yard. We found a secluded spot around the side of the cabin and I stood against the wall.

"What do you want?" I mumbled, not looking at him.

"What's going on? You haven't answered my calls or texts all week, then I see you high with some guy hangin' off you." Pedro stared at me, irritation in his voice. "Why are you doing this, Alessandra?"

I didn't respond. He reached out to hold my hand.

"Please look at me. Talk to me." He pleaded.

I sighed and brought my eyes up to look at him. His expression had softened and his puppy dog eyes appeared confused and wounded. He gently squeezed my hand.

"I guess I let my feelings take over when I shouldn't have," I muttered.

"What do you mean?" Pedro asked softly.

I shrugged and looked away. "I saw you with that woman at the cafe. She looked like your girlfriend. It upset me. So I'm pulling back now."

Confusion washed over his face. "What woman?"
