The prince stared out of the window, his chin against his arms just like he had always done.

His eyes were on the village and its lights, but this time he wondered what each person in each of those houses was doing now. He knew all of them now, the types of lives that they lead.

After a bit of thinking, he reached for his notebook that was next to him on the ground. He opened it and started writing as clearly as possible again.

A knock at the door made him raise his head from the notebook, and look at the door.

"Come in." He announced, and the door opened to reveal the king.

Beomgyu sighed a little, before turning to look at his notebook again.

"Do you usually leave your saddle on your horse overnight?" He wondered; a little bit amused as he invited himself to sit on Beomgyu's bed that was near the window.

"No." The prince quietly answered as he closed his notebook after signing it and passing it to his father.

"What's this?"

"It's for your use. To lead. I collected as many stories from the village as I could. And I wrote it all down in detail. Maybe this will tell you what things need to be fixed." He said softly, watching his father skim through it.

The king hummed, impressed as he read the stories on the pages.

"Father?"

"Hm?"

"I'm planning to resign from my position as heir to the throne." Beomgyu said, watching his father's reaction for some type of shock, but the king was calm as he continued looking through the pages.

"Really?" He questioned, closing the notebook and holding it in both of his hands.

They both went silent, as Beomgyu was slightly intimidated by his father's gaze.

"Yes."

"You should think about it a little more. You'd be giving up your throne. The money. The castle. Everything. Even us. Are you sure?"

Beomgyu nodded his head without hesitation.

"Even us?" The king asked, sounding a little bit hurt.

Beomgyu looked down at his hands in thought.

He wished that he could just leave everything behind and still have connection with his family, but he was sure that in the rules it states that once you leave, you leave entirely, no connection.

He would be stripped of his entire identity as a prince if his father were to sign that paper for him.

But his title was not as important to him as Luna is, and as his freedom is.

"You should think about it." His father repeated his words as he leaned down against his knees, raising his eyebrows.

"I already thought about it, father. I thought about it a lot. That's my decision."

The king stood from the bed after nodding his head, and walked over to Beomgyu's desk, grabbing a paper, and using Beomgyu's pen.

Beomgyu watched him as he started writing, but he was startled once the door to his bedroom opened, revealing his mother.

"What do you think you're doing?" She said quickly, her voice wavering as she walked into the room. "What did you say to the lady? Why did she call off the marriage?! And leaving us? You're willing to leave your family?"

Beomgyu didn't say anything as he stared at the ground.

"How could you even think of something like that?! I will never allow you to leave these castle walls! You're giving up the crown for the village?!"
