POINT OF VIEW

As a curious child Freya had asked her mum a wide range of questions. Childbirth being one on the very long list of many unanswerable questions though Her mother did try her hardest to answer her every question "Mummy?" Freya had asked with a shy glance to the floor, her eyes wide, glossed with innocence. "Yes, Darling?" Freya's mum hummed out, staring at her magazine in hand. Smoke wafted from her mouth as the ash from the cigarette tipped off onto it, her hand brought up as she shooed it off with a tut echoing from her mouth.

"is childbirth painful? cause Jules said she could hear her mum screaming like a horror movie. I-i was just wondering." Freya shyly explained as she fiddled with her hands. "Oh, come here baby." Her Mum's hands bought up to Freya as a come here motion. Freya's mum grunted whilst Freya giggled as she picked Freya up from under her arms, onto her lap, carefully.

"Pain is for the moment, my dear. But this beautiful bundle in your tum is gonna be worth every second. I promise you, Sweetheart." Freya's mother had gently cooed into her ear with her ever so soft spoken voice. "it'll all be worth it, no matter the pain. I would know, I have you, you little monster." Freya giggled uncontrollable as her mums fingers tickled into her stomach.

"Fuck off, Josh. I do not need to fucking breath, I need this monster out of me." Freya all but shouted in one deep and most definitely not calm, breath. Her hair stuck to her face with sweat trickling down her face mixed with tired, agonising tears. Freya was laid down on a hospital bed finally giving birth to her child that she started to feel like would never leave her swollen tum. "Get out. Oh my god it hurts." Freya cried as she reached back out with her hand for the comfort of her partner, Josh, who stood clad in a hospital scrub. He let freya squeeze his hand as he knelt besides her kissing her hand. "Come on, Freya. You can do this." Josh spoke up as he watched Freya with careful eyes.

"I can't. I can't do this, Josh." Freya sobbed as she turned her head into the pillow, squeezing her eyes shut. "It hurts." Freya whispers as she winces. "You can, You can do this, Freya. Im here. Im holding your hand, telling you this. it'll be worth it, I promise you. The pain will be worth our baby." Josh says, encouragingly as his grip tightens on her hand. Freya stares up at Josh with glossy eyes as he looks at her, hopelessly full of love. "Just a few more pushes now, Freya. You're doing better than you think." A nurse from besides Freya says to her, snapping the couple out of their dazed looks at each other. Freya starts to scream in pain as she pushes once, twice.. Just one more time, Freya, One more. Freya thinks to herself as she takes one final breath. "I can see the head." The Doctor shouts over the screams as Josh is overwhelmed by happiness, feeling his lips pick up in one Cheshire grin, his eyes glossing up with emotion.

Freya screams one final time, pushing with all her might until suddenly, the screams stop, silence taken over as hushed whispered are spread around with wide smiles of joy whilst Freya's eyes shut with exhaustion the only noise heard was a baby's scared cries. "Would you like to meet you daughter?" A nurse smiles with the baby in her arms, wrapped with a blanket. "Yes." Freya cries out, the happiness filling her veins. "My baby girl." Freya sobs hugging her daughter close to her chest as the baby cries slowly become silenced by slight whimpers. "My little girl." She whispers holding her, just staring at her. "You're so gorgeous. Josh, Look at her. She's so perfect." Freya's giggles gently as the tiredness is recognised in her voice. "I'm your mummy." Freya smiles wildly. "She- I- " Josh stutters with a lump forming in his throat.

Suddenly, the baby girl began to cry again as Freya bounced her in an attempt to soothe her, although her attempts failed. "Here."Josh offered Freya, wanting to hold his little girl. Freya looked up at Josh with a tired nod as he leant down, taking her from Freya's arms. "Make sure you support her-" "Head? don't worry, Freya I've got her." Josh said softly at freya as he shook his head with a smile. The cries began to calm down as Josh looks down at his daughter. "I've got you, Daddy's here now. Daddy's here." Josh soothed the baby back to sleep as he sits down in visitor chair. "Freya, look, she's asleep." Josh whispered happily, looking up at Freya to see her asleep too

"sleep well." Josh chuckles to himself quietly, rocking back and forth.

being a father at 26 was not part of the plan for Josh. He couldn't imagine himself looking after a child whilst struggling with the tasks of being a sidemen member. sure, in the future, Maybe? but right now at the age of 26 in 2018... It wasn't part of the plan. When Freya came to Josh sobbing one night holding her stomach with a object in hand he was confused. He had just ended a stream and was about to start getting ready for bed when he walked into his and Freya's bedroom to see the sad site.

"Hey, hey, calm down. Take a breath." Josh whispered to her as she sobbed away, her hands clutching at his black sidemen t-shirt. "I-I-i- " Freya's attempts at talking ending up as high pitch whimpers. "Take you time." Josh said softly rubbing his hand across her back. "I- just look." Freya whimpered out shoving a white stick into Josh's hands. With one hand around Freya and the other holding the stick which he only just noticed had been in Freya's hands. The air had left his lungs as Josh felt any and all emotions go through him.
