There was nothing but stars and the full moon that covered the night sky. Sometimes the night could be so ominous and beautiful at the same time. But down below was a girl running as fast as she could from what could have been one of the most terrifying experiences of her life. Finally, Violette could see the hotel not too far away as she was able to find a way inside without getting caught. Sighing in relief, the frail girl made it inside her hotel room, only to get laughter thrown at her.
"Jeeze, we thought you were a goner Weed. Can't believe you stayed back there for all that time."
"What do you expect? She was probably in her natural habitat. She's as creepy and run down as the cathedral."
It was true that Violette wasn't as well off as the other girls in school. Therefore, she usually had to resort to hand-me-downs that Mrs. Rosenbridge could find. Due to Violette being the only orphan Mrs. Rosenbridge had, she didn't get as much assistance from the government as she used to. But, every so often Mrs. Rosenbridge would treat Violette to a new pair of clothes or shoes if she could afford it. Violette couldn't bare to let Mrs. Rosebridge's money go all to her, so Violette also worked a part-time job to help with the cost of things. Due to not having much, Violette didn't wear the most glamorous of clothes, shoes, and accessories. There was no money to go to a stylist so she usually hid her face behind her long black hair. She was also quite skinny too so most clothes looked baggy on her, or at least those were the kind of clothes that were passed down to her and stuck in her wardrobe.
Despite not being as well off as the other girls, or not being considered the prettiest, she was just fine with what she had and could afford. Thanks to her part-time job, she was able to help out with Mrs. Rosenbridge and still buy some things for herself from time to time.
However, something else was bothering Violette as she sat back in her corner with a book held in her hand. No, it had nothing to do with the girls mocking her to her face; but instead of that strange man back at the cathedral.
"Just who was he? And why did he say those things as if he knew who I was? Like I was some past girlfriend of his or something. Maybe he was on drugs. That would explain it."
However, that wouldn't explain his appearance. The man was well-kept. From what Violette could see in the dark, his skin was perfect, his hair was shiny and smooth looking. He held no behavior of someone who could be on drugs. The way he spoke was very traditional sounding. It was very strange. So..it couldn't be drugs after all. Then, just what made the man say such adoring things to her?
The next day wasn't anything special. The girls dropped the whole fiasco from the night before but returned to their usual behavior toward Violette.
"Hey, Weed! Get me a snack from the stands would you?"
"You think she'll do it?"
"Of course she will do it, she knows what will happen if she refuses me. The coward she is will have no choice but to obey. Just like a helpless dog. Hahaha!"
Walking away from the mocking group, Violette walked the way that led to the concession stands that were at a distance. Sometimes Violette wishes she could stand up to them as she would read in her books. But Violette just never mustered up the courage to do such a thing; afraid that she would just end up in a worse situation.
"Thomas? Violette Thomas is that you?"
A voice was heard from a distance, the girl looked up from the grassy ground up to where she heard her name being called. It was a boy who looked to be her age. He was tall and had short but slightly messy brown hair. He also held a big goofy grin on his face. As he walked closer Violette noticed that he was a muscular build and his eyes were a warm shade of umber. She had no idea who this boy was, but apparently, he knew her.
