IZZY POV
After the man had left, I returned to the kitchen, sighing. Chloe hugs my leg and I ruffled her hair reassuringly, smiling as if nothing had happened.
Two days later, I set the twins on their way to school and went to work, forcing the encounter to the back of my mind. I was about to get out of my car, when I saw something out of the corner of my eye. Something familiar, parked in the middle of the square. The TARDIS.
My heart jolted in my chest as I texted Jack, 'I'm not coming in today...' and got out of my car, locking the doors. I walked up to the TARDIS, slowly, scared that it was a trick of my mind. An illusion, something my subconscious had come up with to taunt me with. No, my fingers brushed over the wood door, so familiar, yet new, the paint the bluest I'd seen in forever.
Shyly my hand drifted to my shirt feeling the chain underneath. I wore my never married wedding ring and my key there. I guess it was a habit that I have yet to stop. I bite my lip as the memories of the day he left welled up inside my head, making me want to cry. I took a step back, and walked away.
He wasn't here for me, he didn't care about me, not one bit. I wasn't going to give him the time of day. He couldn't just dive back into my life and expect- The screeching of a cars breaks and a horn jolt me from my thoughts as I realize, I'm in the middle of the road. A car is racing to stop but I am frozen in place, and I feel my life flash before my eyes but a pair of arms wrapped around my waist and pulled me back last second.
"What the hell were you thinking?!" The man from yesterday yells, looking beyond worried. "You could have been killed or seriously hurt and-!"
I cut him off with a hug, buried my face in his chest, "Shuttup. Just, shuttup."
I took him home with me, and we sat down for tea. Well, I had tea, he had Fish fingers in custard. He told me everything, from the second he left. And trust me, there was a lot to tell.
Due to the TARDIS he'd only been gone three years, and had regenerated. His companions gone, he'd resumed his search for me, facing monsters, and saving worlds along the way. I found myself with each word drawing closer and closer. He was my daddy and he was home, no matter how late he was.
I then took my turn to tell him everything, but before I could finish,
"Izzy, let's take a trip, anywhere, anytime you choose."
"Doctor I... I can't just go right back to running with you I have children. A job. A life."
"It's a time machine."
"Doctor. It took you three years to get back to me after so much of my life has passed, waiting for you."
"That's a no then."
"You can take me on one trip but, let me grab some things from my house."
He gave me a hug running to the consol, taking me to my home, and by God, I missed that sound.
