Chapter 2: Taffodil Mountains
Miss Snowhill, the sorceress's assistant snow owl, had flown down to talk to her boss. "Today there has been 7 minor avalanches." she warned. She spoke with concern as she fixed her round eye glasses. "Next news wood ,Tell the town folk of the villages Taradil and Taffarie to not go near steep mountain sides. and no camping at the peak of specifically Mount Tezrus." said the Sorceress of the Taffarie village, named Faye. also a shapeshifter. "Yes, my mage, I will." said Miss snowhill as she grabbed the news wood bark piece and flew to the closest village, Taffarie village. Time passed and Faye had fallen asleep on the tall tree on the mountain side . Faye's body temperature rose as there began to be more avalanches around her area. She woke up and sprinted to the village Taffarie to check on the people close by. She saw a young snow squirrel half buried by snow as well as knocked out. "Oh no! he must've fallen due to the avalanche!" Faye had taken her side bag off and grabbed multiple ingredients for a potion to heal the squirrel. "There, I'll bring him to the cave to rest, hopefully he wakes up soon." Faye had told herself while bringing the squirrel to the crystal and vine filled cave, and set the squirrel down on an old wood and leaf - made bed. While faye had fallen asleep herself, except instead of a comfy bed, a rock couch. The squirrel stood up and rubbed his eyes as he felt light headed from the avalanche. "Wait- where am i? I am certainly not in Taradil village anymore." said the squirrel the squirrel's thoughts:who's that on the couch- oh wait dang it's the sorceress of Taffarie village! I've always wanted to be her apprentice! I have to earn that spot to be the apprentice, that's what I have always wanted!"
-not the squirrels thoughts-
The squirrel had thought deeply about what to do to earn the trust of Faye and become her great, significant apprentice. While he deeply thought about that, Faye had woken up to see that the squirrel was already awake and was ok! "Good to see you're doing good. But you must try to stay clear and get out of the way of avalanches until we figure out more about how they have been happening and how to try and stop them. You would've died if i didn't see you buried in that snow, You're welcome." explained Faye, visibly worried about how much animals could get wiped out because of all these avalanches. "Ok, I promise I will try too ma'am." replied the squirrel. He walked toward Faye. "delightful to meet you in person, Faye, the sorceress of the village Taffarie. My name is Sonny." Stated the squirrel we know now that is named Sonny.
"Well it is great to meet you, sonny. I am assuming that you are doing better than - well, when you passed out in all that snow, but since i haven't asked, how are you now?" commented Faye wondering how Sonny was actually doing now that he had rested for about three hours. "I'm doing and feeling good, thank you Faye." shared Sonny hoping that he's saying the right thing to become Faye's great, significant, apprentice. "Would you like to come to Nizah island with me to look for any creatures we can help? I have been assigned by the queen of the Taffodil mountains to go there to do some experiments on the land safer than others can do. Plus I have to get an apprentice anyways even though I would rather work alone." Faye asked Sonny kindly. "Oh, sure! I would love to be your apprentice! And I shall come to that island with you." said Sonny. " I will be right back, just in case humans are inhabiting the island I need to shapeshift into one of them, so I won't be able to understand what you are saying some of the time." replied Faye walking into another room of the cave. As time passed a
Glow of cyan, mint, and dark blue, plus a bit of purple, and out of the cave room door, came walking a human with an oversized hoodie with a lavender flowy skirt. "Oh my- Faye, is that seriously you?" said Sonny with a surprised look, forgetting she can't understand him. "Ha! I look ridiculous! This is funny, well, I cannot understand you so could ya hop in my satchel?" asked Faye as she opened the worn out satchel. Then Sonny leaped over and went in the satchel then Faye stood up and walked out the cave and held the satchel carefully and ran to the edge of Soncarie island and untied an old raft from the shore, pranced onto it and rowed to Nizah island.
"Bleh it's so weird being human!" commented Faye rowing the small, old, raft. They rowed for around 1 hour, then stopped at the deserted - looking island called Nizah. "Looks clear of humans Sonny, but we have to make sure first." Faye whispered to Sonny. Sonny responded with a nod. He stepped out of the satchel and crawled off of the raft and onto the island. Faye walked off the raft, looked in her bag and grabbed some tent gear, and stuff to put in the tent, and started to set up a one - person tent. "Faye, if you can understand me right now, can you tell me how you pulled all that stuff out of the tiny satchel?" asked Sonny, confused. "Sonny! I told you. I can only hear you chittering." Faye said, finishing setting up the tent. "Will you please make 5 different piles of dirt, in front of the tent, each pile of dirt from a different place of the island?" Faye asked Sonny. And he sprinted to get all the samples of dirt. While Sonny was getting that, Faye was collecting samples of water around the island, and from the pond on the island. She experimented in the tent and the water from around the island was completely fine, and normal, but from the pond, wasn't as normal and fine, in fact, it was filled with black ink, killing all the fish and other creatures in the pond. Faye sighed, feeling sorry for the dead fish floating at the top of the pond. "Hello? Is someone there?" called apparently a human, since Faye could easily understand the person. Faye had opened the tent door to see a young teenage boy looking concerned. " When did you get here?" the teenager asked. "Well, I got her almost an hour ago. But you're the one answering questions now." Faye said strictly. "Ok, mystery girl." said the strange boy. "Anyways," Faye started talking " one, how long have you lived or been here. Two, why are you here? Three what's your name? And four, is it ok if I tie you up?" Faye giggled after the last question, making the disguise wear off. First the wings. Then spots on the arms. Faye put on a jacket to hide it and took a sip of water which helped her turn back to a full human. "Well, for a first, I have lived here my whole life," the boy replied. Faye knew it wasn't true. There was never much life here when she checked 6 years ago. "And I'm here because I have nowhere else to go. My name is Marcus and I would rather you not tie me up." said Marcus. Right then and there Faye used her shapeshifting powers to turn into a leopard and knock him out. When he woke up he was tied to a dead prickly tree. "Ouch," Marcus said. When Faye looked over she saw he was an ink beast! "Oops, well, ya caught me- i lied." "Now let me take your shapeshifting power!" yelled "Marcus" if that even was his name. While that was happening, the earthquakes from the copper dunes kept on rumbling and it became more frequent to have avalanches in the Taffodil Mountains, causing humongous piles of snow to fall into the water and fill that part by the sea with ice and snow. While The Taffodil Mountains were not filled with snow anymore, there was just piled down dirt, and animals had to keep moving to the parts of the mountains with snow.
