HOPE'S POINT OF VIEW.
I take a deep breath to push away my worries. I watch the woman in front of me as she eats burgers. She ordered three big ones, along with a large taro milk tea and some desserts. I know she usually eats a lot, but this feels different.
She’s already finished two burgers and is now on her last one. Since the meeting, she’s gone quiet, and I can’t blame her; I feel drained, too. But we can’t do anything—we’re just here to follow orders.
Watching Yara eat is tiring; I can almost feel my own jaw getting sore from all her chewing. She’s focused on her food, biting, chewing, and gulping without noticing me. It’s like she’s forgotten I’m here. She often loses herself in food when she needs to think. I don’t bother to order anything; I’m still full from the cake.
We head straight to the canteen after our meeting with the boss. It's a lot to handle. I get why he gave the mission to us; it’s not a good one. The task itself is simple, but deciding whether to go through with it is not so easy. Although I'm not totally against killing the both of them because, honestly, they have a point–somehow,
Hindi namin siya totally kasama sa mismong meeting dahil kausap lang namin siya kanina sa big screen—all the hackers in the organization were not required to expose any information about themselves.
They are all call center agents—just regular employee. We have two bosses in this company: one for the call center agents and one for us.
We assassinated people who were in black organizations that committed crimes such as illegal dealing, blackmailing, robberies, and contract assassinations.
Ang secret agents naman are ones who deal with the country's government and others. They exposed the crimes committed—pero hindi sila maaaring pumatay since each group has different goals and rules.
We are the killers of the organization... at ang secret agents ay more on self defense, but they can't kill people—that's their number one rule. Focus kami sa black organization at focus sila sa government.
We kill, and they don't.
We kill for injustice, and they expose it for justice.
They work for peace while we work for money.Ang spy naman they steals secrets and information about the other organizations.
Sila ang isa sa mga pinaka hassle na trabaho dahil madalas tumatagal ng ilang taon ang pagtatrabaho nila since they work for other organizations just to steal important information. They can kill people lalo na kapag nalaman nito ang totoong trabaho nila. Grabe ang effort, patient at time na dapat mong isaalalay and I don't like to be spy—never!
The detectives also can't kill people because that's their number one rule. Some people have trust issues with the police. They don't trust the police, so they hire detectives in our organizations to reveal the truth and get justice. Lastly, the helpers are backup agents, para silang soldiers who sacrifice themselves—pero not for the country but for the organizations.
"Here," my eyebrows narrow when she gently slides the card across the table. I just stare at her as she sips her milk tea. Damn, when did this happen?
"In the elevator before we go to the office," sabi niya na para bang nabasa niya ang nasa isip ko.
"The hell?"
"Alam ko pero ang hindi ko matanggap..." she laughs, and so do I, but when I think about it again, I exhale. Naisahan niya ako.
"You're a pro at this huh," I say, taking my card and wallet and putting them inside my pocket.
"Yeah? I know. You should be careful next time," sabi niya at inislide sa table ang leche flan sa harap ko.
"You should eat. I'm sorry if I didn't ask you if you want a burger or something to eat baka kasi malaman mo agad na kinuha ko 'yung wallet mo, haha!"
"Ha-ha!" I murmur.
"Pft. I'm sorry, okay? Do you want me to buy you one?"
"No thanks!" I roll my eyes and take the dessert and a spoon to eat it.
"So what can you say about the mission?" I ask.
"Sucks,"
"It is!" I say and stab the dessert.
"But they have a point, though," habol ko.
"I run an orphanage, Hope,"
I gulp when she says that because I literally forgot about it. Now I know why she's acting like this. I'm also aware that she wants to retire, but the boss didn't agree. She ran an orphanage when... fuck! When she lost her little sister.
"I want to retire from this goddamn work, but I can't because he owns me. I want to know what it's like to be loved. I want to build a family. I want to have sex in the car, living room, kitchen, and on the beach—"
"Wait, hold on. Sex on the beach?"
"Yes?"
"Literally-sex-on-the-beach?"
"Why not?"
"Are you fucking serious!" sabi ko pero pasigaw na pabulong lang na ikataas lang ng dalawang kilay niya.
"Why not? I can buy an island just to experience that,"
"Come on," wala sa sariling natawa ako kasi I don't know bakit naging ganito ang topic namin. About sa mission dapat ang pinag-uusapan namin pero napunta nanaman about sa kabastusan.
"Have you experienced that?" I blush.
"Bruh? Sex on the hotel from the beach, not literally on the beach. I don't want my vagina to be eaten by crabs or fish—or jellyfish. Nahh, say less,"
She stares at me innocently. Come on, girl! This girl is making me blush for sharing this kind of topic.
"I want to have sex tonight," otomatiko na napataas ang kilay ko.
"Seriously?!"
"Yes? I exhale in disbelief.
Sheshh! This gorl is a fighter.
